Breckenridge opens new alpine coaster

The best way to get downhill at Breckenridge Ski Resort may not be on skis anymore. The resort has a new alpine coaster. Thrill-seekers lined up to take a ride down the mountain on Friday. The coaster is 2,500 feet long and uses gravity to get riders to the bottom. The cost: $15.

Sounds like an interesting way for ski resorts to generate income all year round. I don't know that I would pay $15 for one ride. Then again I'm not the type that would pony up $60/day for a lift ticket.

And that's $63 for right now when not much of the mountain is open. When you really want to ski, it is more like mid-80s to mid-90s per day.
