Brain Injury Idea = Bad Trip

At Great Adventure on Sunday, after riding like 6 coasters I started to get a head ach, as usual. The part that made me sick about it was I couldn't get that naging idea of "Is this a serious brain injury or am I just a small head ach" out of my head. It really made me mad and forced me not to ride Batman for a third time. I think all these speculations of Roller Coasters = Brain Injurys is starting to ruin my park visits. Anyone feel the same?

The only headaches I've ever had from roller coasters are when I get nailed in the head with a puck or something two days before I go to a park then nail the bruise off the OTSR.

Nitro Front seat gave me a splitting head ach. After a Italian Ice I was fine. Allowing my to ride the The Chiller once more, untill the power outage.

That happened to me after riding Wicked Twister 3 times in a row. I got a sharp focused pain in my forehead. Kinda scared me. But then again, this has happened to me at other places too (work, Wal-mart), so I'm not too worried about it.

Perhaps you were dehydrated. I get headaches all the time and I can safely say almost every time it's because I haven't had enough water (or in some cases too much alcohol).

I get headaches sometimes at parks, but I don't think it is anything related to a brain injury. The only times I get headaches is when I'm riding coasters with vicious OTSR restraint systems. Maybe Markey actually should redirect and fine-tune his crusade to be against vicious OTSRs ;-). Surely there are ways of developing restraints that don't beat up the riders so much.
No, brain injuries never cross my mind. If iget a headache I just tuff it out and keep riding till I can't anymore then I take a break and chugh some pop/soda. (It helps the blood vessels constrict to ease the headace pain (I think it's called a vasaso constricter { don't know how to spell it})

I get headaches all the time on Shockwave at SFGAm. I really think they should change the sponsor of the ride to Advil.

Goku2216, I know what your saying. the Italian Ice helped a lot. But the head ach started after my second of 4 rides on Viper. Then I went on Rolling Thunder twice, Nitro once and Medusa 3x. That's really painful when you have a head ach! :)

Well, yes, I felt ill on occasion, but it was more of a naseua thing rather than a headache.

It's always been from spinny rides, or high-g coasters, usually on repeat rides. The worst I ever had was when I first arrived at X preview days, I was able to ride, exit and reenter right back onto the same train, and did that 4 times. Man I thought I was going to really get sick! I had to go for a walk to batman to regain my head.

My thought is that it's motion sickness or momentary oxygen deprivation from high g's. Man I hope I haven't doomed myself to brian injoory. tHat wood nut bee .... to ..... goude.

You guys are hilarious...I too hope coasters don't cause head injuires...that would be BAD...very very BAAAADDD!!! *giggles*

I get them all the time. Which is why I almost died and had to go through my whole surgery deal.

If you do take Advil, Aspirin, Excedrin Etc make sure you take it with water only. NOT POP!!!!!! The pop will make it just fizzle on your stomach lining and will eventually eat right through it.

I am all about Extra Strength Tylenol now, it is very safe for your stomach lining. Just thought I would mention this to you guys.

As for headaches on rides, I get them because of screaming a lot. Or I just get a MNigraine headache while at the park. Fun Fun

I think that it's kinda like a motion sickness. I have had the hint of a headache after a day at the park. I have also had headaches after a day fishing on Lake Erie. All of the wave action, rocking back and forth screws up that part of your ear that gives you balance. Some people get sick, some get headaches, some people are unaffected. Jeff also hit on something with the lack of water. I am sure that contributes too.

The worst day at Cedar Point is better than the best day at work.

I dont think g's have that much to do with it its probaly if you reride a rollercoaster with high g-forces.Which ive heard does somthing but nothing serious. But one time on the Texas Giant I got slight pain at the bottom of every hill around my rib cage. Im not shure what it was but I hade 15 rides on rollercoasters that day which might have contributed.
