Boulder Dash worth it?

I'm thinking about a trip to Lake Compounce next year, and was wondering if Boulder Dash was worth it, to make the trip. I loved Ghostrider, is Boulder Dash better? (Please don't turn this into a versus topic)

I'd just like to know the ups and downs of BD

I liked Dash better than GR. The terrain aspect is really awesome and the airtime is just nuts. If you loved Ghostrider, whether or not you think Dash is better, it'll be worth the trip.

I liked GR better, but that's my opinion and only that. Who knows what your's would be.

Do the trip, and go to SFNE too. I hate the place, but S:ROS is about the greatest thing I have ridden!

Worth it? Without a doubt. Regardless of which you end up liking better, Boulder Dash is one of the best.

For the record I thought BD blew away GR...

...and Peabody nailed it - visit SFNE while you're that close - S:ROS is...well, phenominal.

You could argue that it's a chance to hit the best wood and steel coasters in the US and not be totally out of line.

Boulder Dash is so fast, so smooth, and so awesome as it weaves through the trees and you look down upon the lake as you fly by. It is equally awesome at night when you go up the lift hill in near pitch blackness then careen down the first drop and through the trees in the warm summer night air. At night it's also fun to watch the train go up the lift hill and down again because you can almost lose sight of it in the dark.
Might I suggest you ditch Connecticut and Massachusett's altogether and go visit Phoenix? :)

Boulderdash was fun, though. You didn't give any other considerations that you may, well, be considering. If it's a matter of "Are there any reasons I shouldn't go?"...no, there aren't any :)

Try to go to Canobie While @ The Lake or SFNE.

Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone/B:TDK

I'd say it's definitely worth it. My wife and I started off a coaster trek at Lake Compounce in 2001 and Boulderdash ruined us for the rest of the wood on the trip.

Twister and Phoenix at Knoebel's? Sorry. Wildcat at Hershey? Not. Beast and Son of Beast at PKI? Not even close. Raven and Legend at Holiday World? Ahhh, getting closer, but, still, nope. It ranks #1 on both my list and my wife's, though we haven't been on Ghostrider yet.

We had a great time at Lake Compounce, though it was during the darkest week in the park's history. The fatal accident had happened two days earlier and the boomerang coaster was still in its frozen position from stalling mid-loop the day before.

The only "caveat emptor" on Lake Compounce is that the park lacks that second killer coaster to complete the combo. Wildcat may prove to be life-altering but only due to its rickety shifting make-up.

Still, Boulderdash is worth the drive -- if anything to drive by ESPN.

Thanks for the response guys, SFNE was definitely already part of the trip, but just wanted to make sure that the drive to LC from SFNE was worth it. Glad to hear that it is. However, it'd be a one day thing, so I'd only be riding Boulder Dash at night or day. Which is better, seeing all of the scenery, or racing through it at night????
I rode Boulder Dash first thing in the morning and while the terrain was great and the ride was smooth - there was zero airtime. So judging by all the praise the ride seems to get, I would strongly suggest going at night, where people have told me it runs alot better (as with most CCI's).

Also, SFNE is usually crowded, so if you get there on opening, you should get several rides on Superman without too long a wait. By the way, Superman is awesome!

BD at night is magical. I still pick Raven at night after hill 5 as close to perfection as you'll ever get, but BD is damned close.

And is LC worth the trip from SFNE? Absolutely! If for no other reason then to see the differance between a good park with atmosphere (LC) and a sterile corperate park with a couple of great rides (SFNE).

Without the chaindog, you'd never get up the lifthill...

You'd be crazy not to stop by LC on your way to or from SFNE. Both are great parks, with the best of both worlds IMO. Riding sros and boulder dash in the same day is just about the biggest 1-2 punch you could get. Must've done a good 3-4 trips to sfne/lc in the same day from jersey, with ease. And I'm surprised no one has mentioned that LC is worth a side trip just for the free soda!!!!!!

Im just going to give my honest view based solely on my one visit to Lake Compounce.

Boulderdash was the most over rated coaster I have ever ridden. Im not saying it was bad, It was a long, Fast breathtaking ride through the woods and even had a moment or two of good airtime. It did not however rank anywhere near my top ten based on the rides I recieved that day. Actually I liked the kinda rough and forcefully tossing around that Wildcat gave a little better.

Chuck, who must have caught BD on a bad day and actually got bad rides on Shiveriing Timbers his first time to MIA but Timbersfest more than made up for that :)
