Boomers 1-1-03

Nothing like bringing in the new year than riding a rollercoaster. I hoped on a flight from Illinois leaving the below freezing temperatures to arrive to wonderful 80 degree coaster riding temperatures. I got to Boomers about 3. I bought the $10 ride all day pass which is a good deal since there is never a wait and headed towards the Dania Beach Hurricane. Just as I entered the station they informed me the ride was shutting down because they had to replace a brake caliper on the brake run. I was a little bit mad but was assured that it would be fixed in 30 minutes. So to kill some time I went to the arcade and played some DDR with my cousin. Boomers has 4 different DDR versions in their arcade. I like the fourth version the best. After about 45 minutes of DDR playing I headed back to the coaster to find no wait at all. I hopped in the front seat and got some nice POV footage with my Digital Camera. This place is very camera friendly and very lax about the lap bars. They didn't even check the lap bars and allowed one click rides every time. The coaster was above expectations. Easily the best wood in Florida. There are a few dead spots but this ride really does deliver for its height and length. The ending bunny hops are pure euphoria especially at night when the coaster starts to pick up speed. I got a good 25 laps on it before I called it a day and a few more tries on the DDR machine before leaving. The Dania Beach Hurricane is great wooden coaster and I can't wait to see Coaster Works build another woodie.

Since I'm moving to Florida in 8 days (St. Pete) I hope to get to Boomers some time in the comming weeks. I wasn't trilled with Gawzi this summer so it's good to know there is good Woodie in FL. I doubt it will compare to Timbers back home. Oh well can't beat the warm Florida weather!

Goku, you do realize that Boomers is oh, say 4+ hours from St.Pete. Oh, and trust me, you'll get sick of the warm weather. Well at least its warm in miami where I am, about 75 today. ST.Pete on the other hand was in the 30's. Have fun.

I'm sorry but there isn't a 40+ degrees difference between St. Pete's weather and Miami's. There NEVER is. You are comparing Miami's daytime temps to St. Pete's nightime temps. Miami was in the 40's last night and was in the 40's as recently as 1 hour ago.

I also live in Miami.

Thrill2, I was exaggerating, but there still is a pretty big difference between Central, and South Fla. During the summer, the difference isn't that big? Anyways, where in Miami do you live?

Stitch,

Generally speaking, it's 10 degrees cooler in Orlando than in Miami. It's an unusually cold winter so far.

I live in Kendale Lakes between sw 56st and sw 72street.

Oh, I live no where near you. I live in Bal Harbour (Miami Beach Area)

Bal Harbour is very nice. At least you're closer to Boomer's than I am. I need to get out to Boomer's soon. It's probably a lot of fun to ride the DBH at night in colder weather.

I'm well aware how far Boomers! is from me. I checked that out a while ago. I've done Kings Island in one day (there and back). That's about a 6-hour drive one way from where I live in Michigan. So driving 4-hours isn’t that big of a deal, I just won’t go that often.
