Boomerang Bashing

Why does everybody hate boomerangs and every other clone??? Who cares if they are clones. They are still fun rides, Its just like riding a ride at your homepark many times over and over again, Personally, I don't understand why people don't like any clones.

I couldn't believe it myself but the Boomerang at my home park got boring after about five rides.

You ride the SFEG one??? I rode that one. It was fun and I liked Mind Eraser too. I think you people are crazy, no offense.

Boomerangs to me are like old flat rides, I don't ride them anymore, but other people seem to enjoy them so big deal. There's no need to bash them, they do serve a purpose. I don't know why we are so arrogant to think that because *we* have no desire to ride something anymore, that means it's useless. *** This post was edited by DWeaver on 6/1/2001. ***
I certainly don't hate them because they are clones... I hate them because many of them are old, rough, and pretty painful. I love the Batman rides, even though they are clones.

I don't mind clones, I just get tired of painful or boring clones. I hardly ever hear anyone complain about the "good" clones like B:TR and S:ROS, but that's probably because they are world class rides.

The bottom line is many people (including non-enthusiasts that I have encountered) are getting tired of the same old boomerang and hang-n-bang in every park. Especially when some are in such terrible shape. (more than not I'm afraid) I went to SFA with a friend from Japan and a friend from CA recently and they both groaned that there were some of the same coasters that they had in their home parks. They didn't even want to ride Mind Eraser. My friend from Japan even said that the 2 two in Japan he found (in his words) "very hurting".

I enjoyed my first boomerang 12 years ago, but now, over 10 different boomerangs and 10 different hang-n-bangs later, they do nothing for me other than give me a headache. I'm not crazy, I enjoy every coaster I ride. Boomerang has very little re-ride value. Even my non coaster enthusiasts friends are getting bored of Boomerang and the rest of SFEG (that should tell you something about the park).

Then why are people still riding them, and parks still building them?
My guess would be that they are cheap and compact.

I think all of the Deja Vu clones will not get as boring because it is so Xtreme. It will take many more rides to get bored of.
They are cheap and compact, but Vekoma seems to be inreasing the price, especially with the Deja Vu's coming out. Face it, Vekoma isn't exactly the smoothest roller coaster company out there. Maybe if it was Intamin, or B&M, the ride would be better. Anyways, this is just a boring clone and is in way too many parks across the country and around the world. You've been on one, you've been on them all.
I'm sure many parks build them because they are slightly cheaper than other coasters and have a relatively small footprint. Also, I'm sure they are delivered quickly by Vekoma, and assembly isn't too difficult thanks to their track being bolted together.

Why are people still riding them? Why not? Even though I am tired of them I still take one ride, but I don't see many people going back for seconds.

If I was a park owner I'd spend the extra $$ for something better. Heck Talon was only $13 million, and a new hang-n-bang is over $10 million now.

You want a good boomerang ride ? Face/Off at PKI has gotta be the best boomerang i've ridden ( i think the Face/off type inverted trains are a plus ), I don't know how u could get sick of it

Easy, I'm sick of it. All the Invertigo's are the same. How could you tell one from another???
I've ridden SFNE's Flashback a total of once, and I enjoyed my experience. It wasn't rough, and the drops were pretty good. The inversions were even pretty decent. I could easily see myself getting sick of them after multiple rides, though.

As for SLC's, I rode SFNE's Mind Eraser yesterday for the fifth time and got off the ride thinking, "Man, if this coaster weren't so rough, I'd love it. The layout is actually very interesting with a lot of good foot choppers. I also love the 'drop' after the heart-shaped inversions. I think the turn-off for most enthusiasts about these coasters isn't the ride itself, but the roughness, and the fact that so many parks (primarily Six Flags parks) add these lower quality rides instead of B&M inverteds.

Exactly! Would you rather fork over 10 million for a crude, cookie cutter Vekoma, or two great CCI wooden coasters?
There's nothing wrong with Boomerang coasters...

The PROBLEM lies in the fact that there are TOO MANY!!!!

Now, I wouldn't mind a boomerang coaster in every park, if they weren't exact clones. I mean... it'd be nice if one boomerang had the loop first, then the boomerang element, then the hill... or maybe a helix, and a loop and a boomerang element...

But when I visit nearly every major park, they always have a Boomerang coaster... and the sad thing is, it's the exact same thing!!!

It's like going to the park and finding the Yo-Yo Swings or the Huss Enterprise. Sure, it's fun to ride... but you've ridden it before. The only thing that's different is the themeing or landscaping around the ride!!!

I have nothing against them, and they are very fun coasters. It gives you 6 inversions in one ride. The problem is that when I visit another park with what they claim "6 coasters" or "4 world-class coasters" and find out that one is a Vekoma Boomerang clone... I get a little disappointed because I then say "I rode that already about a million times at my home park!!!"...

So that's one less coaster I ride at another park, even if it's a walk-on since I got one back at home!
I think Deja Vu will become boring like the old boomerangs. It's still the same layout. Boomerangs make me sick after a few rides.
Just a thought, Vekoma is generally rough, B&M generally smooth; Vekoma - inversions usually small, B&M - inversions usually BIG. I think that the size of the inversion has an affect on the smoothness, and B&M build much bigger than Vekoma, BM's stretch for quiet a length, but Vekomas are alway compact. Any thoughts on this?

I don't think that is so actually. B&M's corkscrews are pretty small and they're very smooth. Perhaps it has something to do with it, but I think Vekoma's feel rought even when it's not in an inversion.
