BooBuzz 2010: Details posted

Regarding Saturday, a friend of mine was there from noon till 10:30 and rode six rides. Yes, six (6).

They hit Maverick right away, which was a 60 minute wait; Mine Ride, 30; Gemini, 35; Magnum, 60; Wicked Twister, 65; and MilF... 2:45. That's right. Nearly a 3-hour wait.

As a season passholder, he normally wouldn't have gone on a day like that or waited for those rides, but he was chaperoning someone who hadn't been there in a few years and that was they day they could go.

He said there were cars parked on the grass near the toll booth as they were leaving. Yeesh.

FYI... ERT without the meal was never the deal. I don't think that was unclear

I don't recall how the event was described last year, but I recall quite specifically not buying a meal ticket, and simply showing my CB Club card while in line.

If ERT requires some sort of event ticket purchase, perhaps there should be a way to allow those of us with no intention of eating dinner a way to pay without buying a meal ticket - I'd prefer food not be wasted on my account (assuming they cater based on number of tickets sold).

I think having it on Friday was good, especially given the "rumors" that the park hit capacity on Saturday. Although, it seems like doing any kind of event in October means it's going to be crowded.

Agreed about having it on a Friday, even if only for an excuse to take a 3-day weekend. :)

I was a bit disappointed that the crowds were so heavy for a Friday, but I'll take that over sleet and high winds.

As relatively busy as crowds were for that Friday, I'm very thankful it didn't end up getting scheduled for the next day. I probably would've taken one look at the parking lot and abandoned ship.

Count me in as another supporter of doing this on a Friday. Some lines were long, yes, but nothing unmanageable.

If someone let you in without the event ticket last year, then all I can really say is that they screwed up. I don't think there's much incentive for the park to have an event like this, at a relatively small scale (i.e., 100-150 people) if there isn't a revenue opportunity for them. Running rides ain't cheap.

So that said, the dinner will always be a part of the event, as is the case for most of the events we've done over the years. And as for the food, don't worry, I suspect this was kind of piggy-backed on the employee cafeteria, since it's in the connected building. They could be pretty elastic in their food prep.

To be clear, I'm more than happy to buy a ticket to special events even if I have no intention to dine. I just wish the situation had been explained more clearly ahead of time - there were more than a few confused BooBuzz attendees, at least while I was in line at Guest Relations.

I thought our verbiage was pretty clear, as there was no option for an ERT-only pricing.

I for one didn't feel confused at all. It all seemed very well explained to me, IMO.

Well, between the mix-up last year, and that there were unanswered questions regarding that heading into this year's, I was confused. Perhaps I'm just not bright. :)

I used to be a coaster rider, but not so much anymore. I came with a friend just for the Happy Jack's tour and the dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

I've never really spoken to Jeff (more than a nod), and I'm sure we saw Carrie and Gonch, but not knowing them, we were afraid to introduce ourselves at the dinner. Did kind of wish for name tags, but it's our fault for being shy.

My friend rode one lap during the ERT, and I sat and had a pleasant conversation with another CoasterBuzzer "waiting out" the ERT. We arrived maybe at 4:15, when the ERT had already begun, so we weren't clear on which haunted house we were touring, but the Ride Op standing by the test seat at Millennium made a call to Park Ops and informed us it was indeed Happy Jack's. So we were first in line there (and had a nice talk with Dan and Mr. Edwards before the rest of the group got there).

We did notice a few GP folks "sneaking" into the end of the line at Happy Jack's, but since the queue hadn't been blocked off when Dan started talking, my guess is they simply didn't know it was a special event.

Did the same last year, for the most part--no riding, but enjoying the Terror Island tour.

Well it's a good thing you didn't talk to Gonch, because I think he was threatening to punch anyone in the balls who spoke to him, or something like that.

Talk to me and I'll stab you.

(not really, but it's fun to say)

In related news, my incision finally stopped bleeding... ;)

That's why I only introduced myself to Carrie and Jeff.

Greeting

I’ve thought about this since my brother and I returned from this weekend’s trip and heard what happened to Jeff and his family. We traveled to CP and had a wonderful time at Boo Buzz. I had a wonderful conversation with Carrie in the queue for the front car on MF. She is a great ambassador for the roller coaster community. I believe I followed Gonchar through the tour. But he hardly said a word; he did take a considerable amount of pictures. I was able to thank Jeff at dinner but he was already consumed by the inappropriate behavior towards his wife. An inexcusable action that I hope doesn’t affect future plans. Jeff you have a nice family and I admire your attention to them.
I am not what you would consider a roller coaster aficionado but I do enjoy the rush of riding a few of them. And fortunately they are located at CP. Membership has allowed me to ride without having to wait hours. I have attended most of the functions held there. Thanks.
We left CP and traveled to King’s Island where we rode all the rides there but Vortex. All in all a fun weekend for the casual rider.
I wrote this to show that there as a casual member I may not blog or comment but I do enjoy the club and its benefits and I’m truly sorry about what happened at this year’s Boo Buzz.
Oh I do listen to every podcast so please keep doing them.

I am an old man & I have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened.

Might not have been me.

I did video through the lights-on tour (I think Carrie was behind us) and took all of 11 photos in the lights-off tour (I think 2 GP girls who slipped in were behind us).

Not True..I made a remark to Gonch in guest services about his license plate and he didn't even reach for his shank concealed in his hoodie, but that was probably due to his family being in between him and I!

I tried to stab you from behind, but you slipped out too quick while I was getting our tickets. :)

Gonch, that deleted post that I know you'll see was for you :).
