"Bonfante" ride at CCity

Ran down to Celebration City and Silver Dollar City today thanks to it being Abe's birthday (plus I get monday off for Presidents Day:) ) Sitting in the spot where the Flying Dragon Wagon used to be is the pieces and parts for what looks like a Magic Carpet flat. It looks slightly used and is a light chocolate brown color. On the side of one of the larger parts is the word 'Bonfante' scrawled in white chalk or paint along with some foreign words which I did not write down as I had no pad and pencil. Any speculation and info? Is this flat from Gilroy?

Ozark Wildcat's last stretch to the brake run was getting its last track layers while other workers were hoisting and installing track steel.

Over at Silver Dollar City the Wilderness Waterboggan's new troughs are on site near the ride's tower structure. They look shallower compared to the old ones and they are anice chocolatey brown color (I notice that I tend to describe things using food analogies - YUM!:) )

Jim - that flat was supposed to be installed as The Dehydrator at Bonfante last year, but their expansion never happened.

I wonder if the SDC folks went out to Cali to take a look around the park and place a bid on managing it and struck a deal on the ride or was the ride listed for sale by one of the used ride brokers? Found a thread on RRC (once I spelt Bonfante correctly) that mentions that Bonfante Gardens also bought a Zierer Spinning Logs kiddie flat so that also may show up at Celebration City if it was not installed at Bonfante Gardens.

Thanks for solving the mystery Moosh.

My pleasure, Jim. When I first visited Bonfante two years ago there was a section of the park walled off with signs of a new garden opening the following Spring with two new rides, a "family thrill" ride [The Dehydrator] and an unnamed childrens ride.

When I visited the park this year the walls were still up and there didn't seem to be any advancement in construction. Now it seems BOTH mysteries are solved.

Moosh - who thought SDC would have been a much better match for Bonfante than Paramount

I think SDC or Busch either one would have been a good match for Bonfante.

It isn't so bad. . .
Once you're used to it

Jim, where exactly are the pieces for 'Boggan at out at SDC? Are they in the lot or what? I want to know because I will be making another pilgrimage down there soon and want to have pics for my next MiG update.

They are on the ground right by the overflow gate by Red Gold Heritage Hall. Right there by the Waterboggan's tower. You can see them from the road. I looked and did not see any over in the storage lot across the road where the kiosks are stored but I did not look around real carefully..

Did you go up into the main parking lot by the administration building to see that or what did you do? You really can't see anything from the road to the parking lot.

I was going from Kimberling City past SDC heading towards CCity. The parts were on the ground right by where the extra gate area is by Red Gold and the Waterboggan's tower is right there also. Not the road that the goes back to all the parking lots.

Ok, that makes a lot more sense. If the weather isn't too nasty I will be going down Tuesday.
