Maybe someone out here knows the answer to this one... it's been bugging me for a few days.
On the way back home to Louisville from visiting friends in St. Louis this past weekend, we spotted B&M coaster track on a truck, heading eastbound on I-64.. about 10 or 15 miles east of the I-255 beltway. Two fairly twisted pieces, blue backbone w/ yellow rails, looked like they might be part of a cobra roll or corkscrew element maybe.
Problem is, the only B&M I know of for 2003 that matches that color scheme is at SFMM, and the truck was on the wrong side of the country heading the wrong way... plus, as far as I know, B&M track is fabbed in Cincinnati. So, unless it was returning track back TO the fab from SFMM, I don't have any idea where this track was headed.
It wasn't going to Chicago, or else it would have turned onto I-255 a few miles before we saw it, and the colors don't match anyway. AFAIK the colors don't match the one Great Adventure is getting either. To be on that stretch of I-64, it had to be heading somewhere that involved going through Louisville or Nashville. It was the wrong side of St. Louis to be headed to SFStL. SFKK maybe, but I'm not getting my hopes up; I'm still assuming, like everyone else, that they're getting an Impulse or Viper.
So anyone have any ideas of where it was headed?
The two photos (slightly blurry, in the rain) are at:

Unfortunately we didn't get an overall shot of the truck showing all of both pieces.

Heh. Riiiiight. :)
The "return-to-sender by Magic Mountain" theory sounds best so far... that section of I-64 would be on the LAX-to-CVG route too. So the real question would be why is it going back to the fab? Bad welds or something?
Weird.
It was seen travelling east, but who knows how long it had been or was going to travel that direction. There are an infinite number of explanations. Maybe the drive missed an intended exit for a quick rest?

If you don't have anything nice to say don't say ANYTHING at all.
Why dont I ever see any of this cool stuff when I am on the highway? (probably I live in Wisconsin which is not exactly "on the way" to any cool parks)
Bob who desperately needs to live in a better state for coaster enthusiasm...
Interesting, that far away huh?
Theres really nothing I have to say about the location, but that truck drivers got one long ride on his hands.
I can't believe SFMM is getting another coaster, but I'm looking foreward to it anyways (just found out I'm going there this summer :) )

What? Do you mean SFGam. I highly doubt that is for a flying coaster which has the exact same colors at SFMM track.
