B&M SFGAm 2003

From what I have heard (correct me if I am wrong).  Six Flags Great America has a contract with B&M that they made awhile ago that said they would make a certain amount of rides.  Is there still one left???  If there is I am pretty sure that the next coster will be B&M in 2003.

Where did you hear that nonsense?

So it is nonsense???  Hmm... I thought I heard it on Coasterbuzz...

SFGAm 2003: B&M Flyer!?!?!
There's a common held belief that parks sign coaster contracts with various companies over a period of several years which would include more then one coaster.

That belief is wrong from everything I've heard from various park managers that I've been able to talk to.  There's too much risk for a park to set in stone what they're doing over the next few years for various reasons.  One being the devlopment of emerging technology, and another being that the economy is always changing.  Some people get so excited that they fabricate rumors to make themselves feel better.  (I'm not saying that this was you).

Its possible that SFGAM could get a B&M, but I don't think it'd be due to any coaster contract that they're in

Just wait till next year!

Ok, this has been debated upon time and time again.  Six Flags parks, nor do most, does not sign multiple-coaster contract deals.  It would simply be uneconomical.  Say, for instance, that they sign for three coasters.  They install two, then the park drops drastically in attendance to a point where that a new ride would put the park out of business.  It's just not a wise business decision, and Six Flags doesn't partake in this.

Welcome to Six Flags Great America, home of the fastlane and delay-ja vu! We have now officially been deemed the world-wide wait!
Well, I didn't make it up.  Just heard of it and thought I would ask.  Notice I didn't say "There is a contract for sure".  But seriously, has anyone else heard of this???

You hear a lot of nonsense here if you listen to the wrong people.  This is one of the more commonly repeated fantasies.

Let's see I've also heard here that all coaster accidents are caused by the riders, that Magnum is sinking, and that a penny dropped from the top of the Empire State Building will drill 2 feet into the side walk.  And then there was the one that..........

So, no park in the history of the world has ever made a multiple coaster contract with a builder?

Uneconomical, huh?  Is that a Bushism? ;)

Just remember that correlation does not equal causation.  People see that a park has built however many coaster from the same manufacturer, they assume that they must be under contract to do so, therefore they create absolutely ridiculous rumors.  It may be true that SFGAm will get a B&M next year, but maybe they won't.  Who knows.

I smell a flying coaster, but this has nothing to do with this recurring multiple coaster deal I keep hearing.
How about we not worry about what SFGam may or may not get next year and just enj.....wait never mind that's all we have to look forward to.....perhaps this year they'll actually get both 2001 rides running at the same time!

coasteraddict, I would say that it is HIGHLY unlikely that a SPECIFIC park has a multi-coaster contract.  I would not find it AT ALL hard to believe that SF, Inc. (or whoever) signed a multi-coaster contract for say....3 Deja Vu coasters all at once.  Seems to me that purchasing is best done in larger groups than single parks...does that make sense?
Why do you people keep blaming the park itself for "not getting both coasters running at the same time?"  I also really can't stand it when you idiots bash parks for not getting anything new this year, or any other year.  It almost seems like you think parks OWE you to build a new attraction EVERY SINGLE YEAR.  Get over yourselves and get a damn life.

Of course it makes sense, and I agree that it is unlikely, but does anyone know for sure that a park has never made a multiple coaster contract???

Nope, probably not, so don't worry about it.

I'm not blaming them for not getting anything new this year. know that it isn't up to SFGam what they do and don't get(for the most part), and hardly think that you should be throwing words like that (idiot) around. don't think they "owe" us anything.
As for them not having both rides open don't blame them for that either...you seem to be very sensitive about that subject. know that they had no control over when Deja Vu was given to them and that they didn't plan on V2's early demise last year.....it's just a comedy of errors on everyones part. spacecase....you need to relax other people can have opinions different than yours.

Spacecase,

I hope you aren't saying that I am complaining, because I am not.  Also, I do think that it is a problem that the coasters aren't operating properly half of the time, I am not whining about it, but don't freak out when people express their opinions.

Tell ya what.  I'll stop making those comments if you stop making comments such as "maybe they'll (assuming you mean SFGAm) will actually get both rides open this year" and implying that there's nothing to enjoy at the park because there won't be anything new.

There is plenty to enjoy at the park, I never said nor implied otherwise.

When addressing what the park may be getting in 2003 you made the statement:

"How about we not worry about what SFGam may or may not get next year and just enj.....wait never mind that's all we have to look forward to...."

Which implies, to me at least, that there is nothing to look forward to about the park this year.
