Hmm... I think that not many are being built now as compared to a few years ago because most parks that can AFFORD them have them... and it's not like a steel looper or woodie, IMO, where you can have lots of differing layouts... to me, all the inverts are basically the same. Some are longer, higher, etc. but they're all intense and fast. They all feel the same to me, and I think having two in one park would be sort of pointless (except dueling/racing).
I do think that the invert was the biggest coaster development since the steel looper. They'll continue to be built well into the future.
Relative to the number of coasters being built overall, is there really a decline? I don't think there is.

Don't forget Le Vampire at La Ronde. Beyond that, how many non-inverts? Silver Star, Batman Dark Knight, the two flyers... what else? Again, relatively speaking, I wouldn't say the inverter has fallen out of demand.

As to all inverts being relatively the same....
I think it all depends on what the park is willing to pay for. For instance... while it is a great ride, the design of Dorney Park's Talon could fit into any park with a a very small amount of change. However, rides such as Alpengeist and Great Beat seem to be designed with regards to their surroundings. You could not take one of these two coasters and place them in another park with different terrain and surroundings. Don't get me wrong... not comparing Great Bear to Alpengiest. But even Great Bear's relative "tameness" is greatly enhanced by the way its layout makes full use of its surroundings.

Yes, B&M is simply dying for bussiness... they just can't seem to catch a break when it comes to parks wanting to put in their rides.
