B&M Question

Doesn't it seem like rides like Raptor or Batman the Ride have gone by the way side? There was a sudden rush for everyone to have one and now, no one is getting them! What the therory on that?

Hmm... I think that not many are being built now as compared to a few years ago because most parks that can AFFORD them have them... and it's not like a steel looper or woodie, IMO, where you can have lots of differing layouts... to me, all the inverts are basically the same. Some are longer, higher, etc. but they're all intense and fast. They all feel the same to me, and I think having two in one park would be sort of pointless (except dueling/racing).

I do think that the invert was the biggest coaster development since the steel looper. They'll continue to be built well into the future.

Relative to the number of coasters being built overall, is there really a decline? I don't think there is.

one new one this year at WBMW and thorpe park is getting one next year, so i dont think we have seen the end of them yet.

Don't forget Le Vampire at La Ronde. Beyond that, how many non-inverts? Silver Star, Batman Dark Knight, the two flyers... what else? Again, relatively speaking, I wouldn't say the inverter has fallen out of demand.

As to all inverts being relatively the same....

I think it all depends on what the park is willing to pay for. For instance... while it is a great ride, the design of Dorney Park's Talon could fit into any park with a a very small amount of change. However, rides such as Alpengeist and Great Beat seem to be designed with regards to their surroundings. You could not take one of these two coasters and place them in another park with different terrain and surroundings. Don't get me wrong... not comparing Great Bear to Alpengiest. But even Great Bear's relative "tameness" is greatly enhanced by the way its layout makes full use of its surroundings.

Don't forget that Vekoma is building their huge inverted (SLC) this year. While full circuit inverts are declining in the overall number being built each year don't forget that new themes on the ride went up in huge numbers the last couple of years (GIB's, Impulses, family inverts, setpoints, etc...) I agree that many of the parks that can afford a nice B&M invert already have on or at least an SLC, now it's time to develop the existing technologies into newer twists on the original theme.
Almost every park has an inverted, so B&M is making more floorless and hypers. Now that they designed a great flying coaster I think a lot of parks are going to be buying those instead.SUF in SFGADV in 2003, they're 4th B&M?B&MRULES!!!!!!! Ajrides.

Yes, B&M is simply dying for bussiness... they just can't seem to catch a break when it comes to parks wanting to put in their rides.

YOU GUYS WISH!!! S:UF isnt going anywhere, its truly the most awesome ride in the entire planet!! haahah, SFGADV in 2003 hahahah, and yeah B&M does RULE!!!
We (sfgadv) are getting either a flyer, 4d, or standup next year.
If B and M makes more of em like Top Gun bring it on that is a great layout and so fast paced. I think if B and M made more coaster with no midcourses I would like them much more.

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?

Magnumforce, the thing about that is B&M builds what the parks ant them to build. In fact, either Walter or Claude has gone on record saying he would like to build more intense machines. I do agree with you, though!

"Midcourseless" Beemers ROCK! Fast, intense, quick-pacing. Compact, lots of twists and turns, high G forces...

(You) SFGaV, ARE getting a flyer next year, please, MARK MY WORDS!

So what is better? SFMM or CP? I don't care! They both have 29 coasters between them that they build so we can have a good time!

i disagree with zero-g on his comment that B&M is dying for business. With 7 coasters or however many they are building this year, i dont think thats dying for business.
I can proply bet that SFGAdv is going to get a flying coaster next year. I hope they get a really good wooden coaster thou.
