B&M Dive Machines

I was just looking at some pics of Oblivion and G5, and Construction of Oblivion. How Deep does it dive Into the ground ? And How Much did it cost them to dig that first Hole ?

And Does anyone know how high above the ground G5 is, and how much it cost ?

Well according to RCDB.com, G5 drops 213 feet and 3 inches.

Also according to RCDB.com, Oblivion drops 180 feet, and is 65 feet tall.

But somewhere along the lines the information got all messed up.  They are clones of one another - so both are 180'.

Doing simple math we figure that if Oblivion has 180' and 65' of it is above ground - 115 must be below ground.

Oblivion cost 7,000,000 dollars to bulid

note: I looked it up on coasterforce.com and all the above information is correct

Also, G5 drops 155 feet with a 25 foot tunnel

Well, according to RCDB, Oblivion is 1,222 ft long, and G5 1,250ft long. Most of the time Drew, it's not an exact copy of the ride. Many supports will be relocated, and the ride course may be shorter or longer. The platform, for instance, may be in a different relative location on the two coasters. So it's concieveable that the two rides are near clones, without the exact same height, speed, or legenth.

RCDB says the drop is 213:

don't think that G5's drop is longer than Apollo's Chariot.

RCDB says that that angle is 89 degrees:

it is 87.9 degrees.

This shows that RCDB is wrong sometimes.

note:  just got my friend to read the Janfusun Fancyworld website and it clearly says it's 180 feet.

Just E-mailed Duane about that :p

yeah they are both clones. The supports are slightly altered and G5 has an extra one because the drop enters the tunnel lower down. They are both mirrors of each other though.

Does anyone think any parks here in the U.S is going to get one ?

And also, of all the inversions Which element would be easiest to preform on the Dive Machines ?

My guess is a Barrel Roll or Cobra Roll, but the supports would have to be pretty big for the Inversions.

Look at the third picture here at Coasterforce.  I don't recal Oblivion having turns like that.  But the length is 1222 ft and 180 ft total drop.

But, I think I figured it out, by these pictures here.  The station seems to be already way up in the air, like the rest of the ride. At UltimateRollercoaster, it says G5 is in fact a mirror image of Oblivion.  So there, I figured it out as I was constructing the post.  ;)

A loop would be the easiest and least painful as the trains are so wide that the laterals would be unreal otherwise.

G5 is more or less a mirror of Oblivion. The difference is just the height of the supports since it rests on different terrain.

Yeah, Oblivion has a 180 foot drop, but the lift is nowhere near that high.

GO CU! Big 12 Champs!
Oblivion cost 12million POUNDS, (which is loads more in dollars but I can't be bothered!) of which £1 was spent on digging!
I thought that Dollars is Half the amout of pounds . That is what My grandmother told me, she has been to england.

Other way around Titan_Fan, 2$U.S. = 1£ (approx., your actual mileage may vary).

AT had to put Oblivion mostly underground because they REALLY have severe height restrictions.  I don't think the Brits have "zoning variances" they way we do.  With another Wardley creation on the books, (and ALL the other "goodies" they're getting) the UK buzzers should be happy campers in '02...

So Oblivion Cost $12,000,000 !!??!!??!!

But According to RCDB, it cost only $7,000,000 . That came from 12 Million pounds.

Without really knowing for sure, if there are both a 12 million and a 7 million price tag quotes, then it should be 7 million pounds which would convert into $12 million U.S.  That would be a good exchange rate seeing as it varies between $1.50 to $2.00 per pound.
both G5 and Oblivion are the same

the difference is that the curve of the drop starts above ground but on oblivion it starts just after entering the pit

Incidentalist proves detective...at that kind of pricey-ness, those track lengths are just too short for me to think there'll be many of these - but I'd still like to have ONE in the U.S.A...

Incidentalist has it right on.  I was just in London last month, and the quick & dirty conversion we would do in our heads was $2 US per pound. It works out to somewhat less than that, but for quick ballparks it was a useful figure to have in mind.
