B&M - What does it stand for?

Bolliger & Mabillard.

That's what I thought. The people who run the company are Walter Bolliger & Claude Mabillard.

Then WHY, do I keep seeing the name BolliNger & Mabillard (with an 'n').

This name appears consitently in official, and trusted sources. The American Rollercoaster, the book by Scott Rutherford calls them this name, and I contacted Six Flags, and they say the correct name is BOLLINGER & MABILLARD. It is even on the Six Flags Site.

If this is true, why does EVERYONE call them Bolliger & Mabillard.

This needs clearing up, one of the names must be incorrect, but which one??
I have only ever seen it as Bolliger & Mabillard. I double check web sites such as SIX FLAGS.com and it is listed as Bolliger & Mabillard. I don't know what to tell Ya.

Bolliger & Mabillard

One of the best roller coaster designers in the world. Great people movers.
I do know that the company is called Bolliger & Mabillard, but I'm just pointing out this inaccuracy which seems to be creeping into more and more places. I have noticed that the people who use this other B&M name are the sources you would consider to be reliable, and why would us mere enthusiasts have the say in what B&M stands for when Six Flags is actually dealing with them - you'd think they'd know the company that suplies many of their rides!

Check out that book though, The American Rollercoaster, because I noticed it is FULL of incorrect company names. Giavanola!?

its probably just typos. neither of their names are common, at least to Americans, so they are easily misspelled.

If they can say Cedar Point has S:UE at their park, I'm sure that some letters can easily get messed up.

...A natural force simply known as, Millennium Force...
maybe they call them BolLiNger because their coasters still Linger with greatness over years?

-------------
"Why you kick my dog?"
so this company is like only 2 people create coasters?

if theres more wouldnt i be like B&M company or inc. or corp. yea hehe

BLAH
Well, a common misconception is that Bolliger and Mabillard, and all coaster companies for that fact, have one or two designers. That is wrong. B&M and all companies are Firms, they have many, many engineers designing and working for them. It is named B&M because they are the founders and chief engineers.

Millennium Force: Go Full Force...
Well, actually, to the Swiss, the "&" symbol stands for the word "than," thus the meaning of B&M: Better than most. ;)

I'm such a geek :)
