Block brakes revisited

I know we've all complained about the way the block brakes were working in the demo. Atari was kind enough to send me a preview build of the game, which appears to be about a month older than the demo (the UI was hideous).

The blocks appear to work as designed. The weirdness about them is that they tend to kick the trains through if they're going slower than a certain speed, which is kind of odd.

Who knows what we'll find in the final retail version!

I'm working to get a preview with video and screenshots up soon. Got my book revision deadline right now, so my priorities are obviously there.

Your writing a booK?

Jeff,

In your build, do the block brakes abruptly stop the train for a moment, even though it's all clear ahead (like it does now in the demo)?

No, they don't stop the train momentarily, that's what I was getting at. Knowing what I know about software development, the release version could go either way depending on how the requirements evolved and how code was checked in.

Yes, I'm writing a book.

Ohh, can I get mine Autographed @ Beast Buzz?;)
That's really interesting... why would they get it right the first time, change the way the blocks work for the demo, then deny that the brakes would ever work the way that they should?
I also noticed that if a coaster train approaches the station at a slow speed, it accelerates when it hits the station.

I always thought that was kinda odd.

I think that book is just a few notches above my reading level. ;)

I thought you meant you were like writing a biography or something. I don't even know what ASP.NET means.

I've seen coasters do that before Greg, or maybe it just felt that it was going faster inside the station.

Biography? I doubt the details of my life would be that interesting to most people.

Only to the stalkers that lurk around here...

...and the ones sitting outside your house right now ;)

So this ASP.Net thing, is that something that troubles Egyptians while they're on the web? [/obscure reference]
