Blizzard River opens with PENGUIN in attendance!

As it began to snow, the Ice (sculpture) Ribbon was cut and a Maryland Family with Batman in their raft became the first official riders of the Penguins Blizzard River at Six Flags America. The opening of the worlds tallest spinning rapids ride brings SFA's water ride number to 4, and catapults them to #1 in water rides for the mid atlantic east coast area.

I was honored to be in the 4th official raft.

They even had a cute little live penguin walking about, on loan from SFWOA!

If you get a chance hit PBR when you're at SFA!

I'm sure Sam can do a much better job of explaining the ride than I can, especially since I haven't seen it with all of the effects (fog, spray rays, geysers, I'm not sure if the snow is a permanent effect or not, something tells me that would be objectionable considering the winter and wet spring we have had). I can tell you one thing. You will be dizzy by the time you reach the bottom.

PBR begins with a load into your 6 person raft. and dispatched up the conveyor belt lift hill, once you reach the top you're slipped into the colorful slideway. Immediately you encounter this odd little welcome mat sized catcher mat, that holds one side of your raft while the other swings free, causing youto spin, the mats increase in frequency, and your spinning becomes nearly maniacal. spinning around so much you lose track of where you are, and then the curving straightens out and the drops begin, toward your smooth splashdown topped by a water curtain, then a bank of mist, and then just before you return to the station you encounter the naughty penguins, who spit at you and get you a little more wet.

you don't get real wet, but just enough so you know you were on a water ride!
