While I was there I got to talking with someone from ride operations (not seasonal help). Very cool guy. Obviously he didn't discuss VF's five year plan or anything along those lines. However, and this is the first time I've heard from an official source, they are not getting anything for 2002. No big suprise after Funkytones convinced me it just wasn't happening. I don't feel as if I'm spilling any beans here as you can call Valleyfair if you'd like and they'll tell you they haven't heard from Cedar Fair that they're getting anything.
I think it would dumb of me to tell you guys some of the things he told me because I feel that would breach any trust in which I might have created with the guy. However, I think its important to inform you guys that flooding plays no real big part in the construction of any major rides. I was informed that the majority of the land that's owned by Valleyfair (and they do own quite a bit that's not being used) isn't even in the flood plain. Additionally I was told that any coaster that would/could be constructed would simply have dikes built to direct water flow and have the track of the coaster built high enough above ground where flooding wouldn't be a problem.
So for all of you folks that have been saying that the reason the park didn't build a coaster for '02 because of the flooding are nuts. There's some other cool things he mentioned, but of course nothing is nailed down so there's no point dissapointing my potential new boss (one of many) by letting cats out of their proverbial bags. Thanks for listening

Funkytones, don't sweat it we don't know what each other looks like. I had a heck of a time finding it at first. I stopped at one of the ticket offices and they said its in the food court on the second floor. So I go out in the entire mall looking for a second floor food court (it doesn't exsist) I found a couple on the third floor and no one had a clue what I was talking about there. So, I went back asked directions at Camp Snoopy again and was led to a place with free food, lots of girls, and nice people. And Funkytones, email me your name would you so I can mark your name down on this application would ya? Maybe you'll get a bonus. The guy I talked to said applications are a pain in the butt to fill out with everything going around and to just mail it with an attention to him and give him a call and he'd set me up.
