Biggest Park Dissapointment

What is your most heart breaking moment at a park.

Mine had to have been when I was about 9 or 10 at Knoebels. I was tall enough to ride the Phoenix but not tall enough to ride their Jet Star. Finally the year I could ride the Jet Star I had a broken collar bone and couldn't. Ended up riding later in the year but still that extra month sucked.

Mine was bitter-sweet, and happened just this year. I was on SFA's Superman when the chain broke. This was going to be the first coaster on our Virginia-area coaster tour. It was 92 degrees, hot, half of the park's rides were closed, but having been on Darien Lake's version, this was going to be one of the coolest moments of the trip. Alas, the chain wouldn't allow it.

The positive side is that you don't get to walk down on a hypercoaster very often.

Mine to happened at a DC area park, though it was PKD summer '98. At the time, I lived in Illinois and was going to summer school (college). I sweet talked my professor into letting me take the final early so I could take a family vacation. All summer I had been on the net looking at pictures/drawings of V:TBC. I finally get to the park (we drove mind you) and Volcano is closed. I would have been really upset, but the day before, while visiting w/ family in DC, we happened across Adventure World (now SFA) and got to ride their new for the year Roar. Believe it or not, we had more fun in 5 hrs at AW than a whole day at PKD. Go figure.

Going to PKD with some friends who came up from Texas(don't ask). We were determined to ride V:BC, but as we got into the lot, there was a sign saying it was closed all day:=(. Did have some fun on all of the wooden coasters though.

Six Flags America IS a Six Flags park!
This spring when I was making my 3 park tour of Cedar Point, King's Island and Six Flags Ohio. Day 1 - MF, Day - 2 We'll get to that, Day 3 - SFO. Day 2 - I had been calling PKI all week in reference to Son Of Beast. Thet said it was to be running. Well it wasn't, talk about a big dissapointment. They were cycling the ride all day. Talk about a living hell. Running, but I couldn't ride it.

Re-read BMCOASTER's that was pretty much my same deal this summer, SOB closed all day, except for water dummies. Instead of SFO, I opted for Michigan's Adventure and added Holiday World.

Gotta ride 'em all!
I think my all-time disappointment will be that I didn't start riding coasters until late, and because of it, I'll never know what it was like to ride the Bat at PKI.
Some of you complain that you didn't ride The Great Circle Ride at King's Island due to problems, but I am dissapointed that I did ride it. I think we all know why...

Come on, punk, what's wrong with SOB?

(note, we all know that you feel that it is the most pittiful excuse for a heap of driftwood ever constructed, but I want to hear it from you. You have a way with insults.)

Gotta ride 'em all!
My biggest disappointment like Jeff also comes from SFA. Going to SFA and seeing Superman:ROS not running all day was really sadening. I knew we should have went to PKD. Anyway, I came back home and rode Goliath and felt a lot better.
My biggest dissapointments include:

The Six Flags Cyclone,Magnum XL 200,The Beast,and
Cedar Point.

My greatest dissapointments this summer were: SoB not opening on time (I sure had fun once it was), SFO (thats all I have to say), and CP (IMO not all it was cracked up to be.)

Just wondering, Soggy, why do you encourage punk to rat on SOB? I don't think I had too many disappointments this year. Just wondering why I wasn't moving very fast on the Mean Streak on my first ride of the Season. A great coaster that wasn't the greatest, but now really blows. How bout' that Beast and SOB? I was expecting WAY too much SOB was decent, and the Beast was pretty darn good, but not everything I expected. But there is a happy ending to that, PKI's 2 steelies BLEW ME AWAY. Outer Limits and Vortex rule.

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
My biggest dissapointment is leaving the park.

Magnum-Just Ride It!!!
Our trip to Hershey in July. We wanted to ride Lightening Racer one more time. They were only riding one train per side. We waited about 30 minutes and were 3 trains from the ride, when we noticed a huge thundercloud to the west. One more train and they shut it down. People in line almost started a riot, it was more scary than the ride!!

There's nothing like a woodie...
Alas all of my major dissapointments seem to come from PKD. Number one came during my first visit there after BGW in 97. I had heard some good things and was looking foward to Outer Limits. After 2 hours in line I had to leave to meet my group. Then I came back in 98 only to find out how painful the ride is. The other dissapointment was in 98 when I came to ride Volcano and of course it wasnt open yet due to all of its problems. Luckily, I got to ride it in 99.

No reason, GraigTCF. I REALLY wanted to ride it (SOB). I was just refuring to punk's previous views. It's just so funny HOW MUCH he hates that ride.

Rob Coasting: Dissappointed in all of those? Are you sure that you like roller coasters? You weren't even born when The Beast opened. Show some respect for your elders! :)
Personally, I loved both The Beast & Magnum.

Gotta ride 'em all!
Travelled from UK to USA to ride Son of Beast and Millennium Force. BOTH were closed. Thanks to SFO for having all your super coasters running.

Since been on both - worth the wait.

PKI beats CP

I take it you were there the day after the lightning strike? How unlucky is that! That was the only day the ride wasn't open all season (though it did open for about an hour or so at the end of the night).

Soggy: I feel your pain about PKD. It's not that I disliked the park exactly, but nothing really jumped out at me other than Volcano (and what a jump that is). It especially seemed weak after BGW.

My disappointment lies in the fact that every time I go to a park that is NOT Cedar Point, it rains. I have the worst luck when it comes to weather. Just once I'd like to travel to a different park and have some sun!

Now Grant, it sounds like you had a REALLY bad string of luck this summer. You make my whining about the weather look like nothing. I hope you have better luck in your future trips!
