BIG NEWS for SFGAdv.

OK...I just returned formt he park today...here's the rundown of the latest news:

The Robin train is now, and I quote, "Permanently" located inside the station.  This quote came from a ride op.  I guess he means that it will no longer be placed on the transfer track.  The train was just sitting dormant inside the station all day.  No test runs that I saw...but I saw it testing on Thursday, so no need to worry.

Viper will be torn down.  There is nothing to point out what will replace it, but it is definite that the ride will be destroyed.  I know how on the Coaster Celebration forms it says that Viper will be running, but they have replaced Viper with Twister for the ERT.  Just go to any Guest Relations window and ask about it.

I have found out the location for the upcoming Alcatraz: The Ride!  If you have been to the park lately, you will notice that part of the queue for the Centerfuge (scrambler) has been covered.  Also, a new pathway was poured, zig-zagging up to Centerfuge's exit.  Well, this is all being done in preparation for Alcatraz.  Centerfuge and Space Shuttle will be moved to a separate area of the park.  They are NOT being removed.  They will re-open next year in a new area.  Alcatraz will span the entire area from Centerfuge to the Space Shuttle.

There is some construction going on inbetween Dare Devil Dive and Dino Island.  Don't get too excited about this.  It is simply construction for a new warehouse for storage of the games prizes.

Here's the biggest news of all:  Parachute Drop will be removed.  Now, before you get all dissapointed, here is the reason:  The Parachute Drop Tower was struck by lightning earlier on in the year, and it completly fried the computers.  The ride has been unable to operate, and the park cannot get new parts.  Now, here is what's going in it's place:  AN S&S SLINGSHOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  These can be found at CP as VertiGO, and at SFMM as Thrill Shot.  SFGAdv already has a temporary Sling Shot attraction in front of Dino Island.  Now, the temporary Sling Shot is an ENORMOUS money maker...it has been recorded to bring in $1 million in 1 day alone!  With the success of this ride, SFGAdv has decided to invest in the bigger, better version.  Be on the lookout for 3 265 foot towers being installed over the winter.  This will be the tallest ride in the park once it opens!

There you have it, the run-down of news for SFGAdv.  Robin is almost ready to open, Viper will be torn down, Alcatraz: The Ride will be put in where Centerfuge and Space Shuttle now stand, the construction by DDD is nothing to be concerned about, and an S&S SlingShot attraction will replace the Parachute drop next year.

YOWZA! You certainly had a big day!
Will this new sling shot ride be an upcharge atraction? and what new section will the scrambler type ride and the space shuttle will they be moved to?also if the new sling shot atractin where to go up would they get rid of the one they have now? it sounds like what ur saying could happen but again only time will tell. i think they should invest in a new freefall atraction thats not a upcharge they have enough of those.
Yes, the new S&S Sling Shot will be an upcharge, just like CP's and SFMM's.  No one is sure where the two rides will be moved to.  One could go by Medusa, the other could go by Chiller!  LOL.  Also, I don't think that SFGAdv would want 2 of the same basic rides.  SFGAdv is basically doing the same thign that SFDL is doing.  SFDL's Sling Shot is the same type as the one at SFGAdv.  The Sling Shot at SFDL will be removed at the end of the season.  Both parks are using these types of Sling Shot's as evaluations...just to see how the public reacts.  Obviously, it is a big hit!

I too hope that they invest in an Intamin free-fall tower.  Preferably an Intamin Stand Up Gyro-Drop.  We'll have to wait for the official announcement for that, though.

L M F A O.  How much does it cost for one person to ride the SlingShot at SFGAd?  And there are two seats, correct?  Okay...

Let's say it costs $30 per person to ride the SlingShot.  That'st $60 total per shot.  To get to $1M in one day, that means it'd have to launch 16,666 times.  Since it doesn't launch that much (I'd guess) the entire YEAR, I'm going to say you're wrong here.

Unfortunately, I now don't believe anything you say.  :)  Well, except for Robin's train being on the track, that's true.

"No listenin', you hear me?"

I'd have to agree.  There is no possible way that the ride could make anywhere close to $1mil a day.  I also heard that Space Shuttle was being removed permantly, hence the reason it hasn't opened once this season.  It is a fact that Alcatraz is going where those two attractions are now.  It will take up the former games warehouse and I assume the space where Space Shuttle and G-Force are now.  I believe that Parachute Tower is going down, which would make way for some sort of tower/freefall ride.  I think at this point there is no way to know if Viper is coming down, my bet is if they don't add a coaster next year (which seems most likely), then Viper will at least be standing, if it's not operating.  They won't take it down if they have nothing to put in its place.  Whatever does happen next season, it's a lot.

Wow nothing i really didint know already but your so wrong about the s&s slingshot it wil be an Acrophobia clone or new themed ride like that it would fit Perfectly!
i think sfga should get a giant wooden coaster like "the boss" or something
Im not sure that makes much sense, not saying your wrong but, Great Adventures already has 4 pay ride plus their getting Alcatraz, which is also most likly going to be a pay ride. Yes it would rake up a lot of money but we have Sling Shot about 20ft away from the Parachute Ride. Acrophobia is a better investment if you ask me cause it's free (SFGADV is too expencive already) holds more people, and looks better from outside the park! S&S SlingShot sounds good but really.........Do we need another pay ride.

Do we need another pay ride?  No, but that doesn't mean we won't get one.  Think about it... people pay to get inside the park, spend money on food, drink, games, and souveniers, and then they pay a ridiculous amount to go on another ride.  While it hurts our wallets, it fattens Six Flags', and that is why they are in business.

Since upcharge attractions like slingshots, sky coasters and the like are all extremely low-capacity rides, parks will always need to charge extra for them, otherwise the lines will be unbelievable.  Personally, I don't care one way or another regarding more of these attractions being installed anywhere, as long as coasters and other types of "standard" amusement park rides continue to be built.  If the money the park makes from these rides goes into other park improvments, its all good to me.

OK...I heard from a park supervisor and mechanic that Sling Shot made $1 million once in a single day!  Also, that frigging ride is never dormant!  There are always people stupid enough to pay the insanely high $20 price tag!  I would ride if it were $10, but definitely not $20!  I'm just saying what the supervisor and mechanic told me.

SFDL's Sling Shot is an evaluation ride, too!  SFGAdv is doing the same thing!  Listen, if SF Inc knows that people will pay money, they will add the rides.  Let's run down the list of upcharges:

Turbo Force, Dare Devil Dive, Go-Karts, Rock Climb Wall, Sling Shot, Laser Tag, Alcatraz: The Ride, Various Virtual Reality areas

8 friggin upcharge attractions make SFGAdv the upcharge capital of the world!  Obviously SF Inc sees that SFGAdv is the largets moneymaker of the chain and that the people that come to the park will pay for the upcharges!  Ever see Field of Dreams?  "If you build it, they will come."  How true that phrase is.

There are plenty of areas for an Intamin drop tower.  The park has 1600 acres left to expand onto!  Plus, they have the dormant Batman Stunt Show arena....they could easily tear that down and fit in a tower!

Not physically possible.  To make a million a day the unit would have gone through 7 cords in a day.  The cords take about 3 hours to replace so it is not a possible feat.    Million a season,  that makes sense.  Also was this supervisor like 17.  He still might not have passed is Algebra class yet,  numbers do not lie.  The cords only last 5000 launches or something like that.
I don't care what you heard... Basic math proves them WRONG.

$1 million dollars, no way.  Alcataz is going to be free, I worked at SFGA. Anything that is called a ride is free, "attractions" cost money.  Skycoaster is the highest revenue ride there.  If you notice the slingshot(which is not that great, personal experience) is on a trailer(portable).  So they may remove it.  One more thing they don't have a S&S so the tri-state area is not sold on Stan.  I forgot one thing, on July 4th they said they were tearing down viper.

I believed everything you said...untill that million dollar crap.
hey ive only been to SFGAdv once, but i gotta agree with everyone else.  there is no way that they made 1 million a day....no way at all!!  come on now...as far as alcatraz, i have no idea where its going, so i guess i believe ya there.  and viper yeah i guess they should tear it down...it stinks cause when i went there this year, i had no idea it was SBNO....it looked really cool, but ive heard otherwise...oh well...guess we will see next year.
