When i went to geauga lake when i was ten years old i remember seeing little plaques with the histories of some of the rides. Now that preimere took over, the plaques are gone. But i remember the one from the big dipper. And the one thing i remember was that the coaster was not called the big dipper all of its life.
From what i recall the coaster had two earlier names, one when it first opened. Then it was changed to something else later on, then the name was changed to the current big dipper name. Anyway, i do remember that it had to earlier names, i just cant remember what they are or when the coaster held the names. I do remember that there were pictures with the history, and one of them showed the coaster with one of the other names over the loading station. I'm just curious as to what the names are and if anyone knows them can u please reply to this message to let me know if you know anything on this topic or any history of the big dipper. Im sure i remember reading this, i just would really like to know what other names the coaster held, because im sure it did.
Anyway, im 17 now, and i just cant remember what they are. And i know for a fact that this coaster did hold at least one other name, but im pretty sure it was two, i remember seeing the photo with another name on the loading station. I originally wanted to put this under six flags ohio buzz, but that was archived, so i put it here, respond and let me know what u think.
never heard that before, something i might check into. i would say to go to refreshinglook and ask them, but there is only about 3 nice people over the age of 10 there. worst grammar and spelling i have ever seen. they also have bad attitudes. anyway, big dipper is sweet, isn't it? if it was at a park like knoebels or kennywood (rich in history), i don't have a doubt in my mind it would'nt be on top 10 coaster lists.

Oh I see how you feel about us over at the ARL message board. Maybe you shouldn't post anything then. Oh, how's my spelling on this?
KennywoodCoasterFan: All I know if once upon a time, Big Dipper was called "The Clipper". My mom still calls it that and I correct her everytime.
Yes, you really like us here at RL.
