Big Chief update

I was in Wisconsin Dells on April 12. Stopped at Big Chief. They had some land cleared by the Poseidon go carts. They also had a small piece of cement in the ground. It didn't look like a footer. They had a strip of land cleared in the back by the trogan horse. There was no crane or track anywhere. I didn't have my camera with me, so I didn't get any pictures.
According to the park map, the ride will be going next to Poseidon, where there is a large plot of land that has been cleared and flattened. I still question what's going on in the front of the park, though, and why they've built a path from Zeus to the front clearing...I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I went to Big Chiefs today, April 17th, and two pillars which were made to look warn down, had been erected in front of Zues's drop. They were only about 15-20 feet high. But it's a start! First water coaster, then..........Shockwave!

If you haven't rode Raging Bull in the back row you haven't lived. The feeling on that first drop cannot be explained in words!

If you really think the park has the room, money, or stupidity to add Shockwave, then that's the funniest thing I've read all day.

I think Big Chiefs should look into a small beemer... (wildfire) I mean they need sometihng new and those aren't really expensive..... are they?

Tizzle Thrizzle Dragsizzle in 2003izle!

Only about $15 million 'expensive', which I am sure is about $14 million or so more than the park can afford!

yea beemers are what they are for a reason.
Actually, the park has both the room and the money to do pretty much whatever they want.

They might be smart enough, though, to be a little bit selective about what pieces they install... :)

Let me assure you, the Big Chief is pretty smart. I learned that when I was involved in a conversation with him last season.

Plus they own a lot of land behind the actual park. They need to keep the front a go-kart park then make the back a THRILL PARK with coasters, S&S towers, etc.

What are they adding this year, and what is their website?

I dont doubt the operators are smart, but it would be nice w if the ride ops didnt have the look and smell of carny people, of course maybe i just went on the wrong day.
Sorry, but I've learned to be a bit suspicious of anything that comes from the mouths of the people who operate Big Chief. I don't know the specifics on how much land they actually own, but it's not much more than what they've used (and anything else they may own is all swamp). The same thing goes for money, really. There's good reason the parks look run down, and that maintenance on the go-karts is a big sketchy. I've been to Big Chief more times than I can count, and have had many conversations with the owners and operators. The park probably brings in a decent amount of money, but they're certainly not rolling in it.

That said, they are doing some nice things this year besides the new attraction. There's a large new computer-display sign out by the road with some cool Greek theming around it (columns and such). It's still pretty impossible to figure out exactly what next year's ride is, but I can't imagine it will be long before it's obvious.

Bob O: Big Chief hires from the same places any other amusement park does. The population of Wisconsin Dells is small, so most of their operators are high school students from area towns, as well as a number of people they hire from overseas to work for the summer. I don't know who these "carnies" are that you're seeing, but I've never noticed a difference in *who* the employees are between Big Chief and, for example, a Six Flags park.
