Big Bend 'derailing' (on the topic of freak incidents...)

I interned at SFOT in '95 - the first intern group there (turned out to be not what I expected, but fun anyway). This great manager I had told us about 2 times Big Bend 'derailed'.

One of them sounded pretty tall tale, with one car landing on a roof or something. He said the 'grip' things (where the wheels are) were made out of aluminum and somehow were damaged, and the train/car(s) derailed.

Anyone know about this?

See...now this I'd file under "urban legends." ;)

Actually, i would be quicker to believe this one than a shuttle loop knockin the end nearly off.
