Big Bad Wolf

The winners were notified by phone and email that they supplied in the bid. One of the bids (the top one that started at 1500, then went to 27000) was a bot. Marketing called them and got some bogus phone #. So that got stripped from the list.

If anyone needs the list of winners let me know via PM. (or if you are on the list).. Its no secret as the names were public from the beginning.. They just pulled the entire auction and names once 3pm hit yesterday to keep people from further bidding.

Looks like he's going even further, d_port. I think he's saying that it'll be the world first 2 across seating on a B&M floorless. I'm so excited!

edit - didn't change anything but my atrocious spelling, grammar, and punctuation. lol

What was the lowest winning bid? Guess my $66 wasn't enough. :(

Was at the park today and saw about a dozen "enthusiasts" at the Wolf. Man, what an atmosphere in the station tonight! It was great hearing a beyond-full queue of people so excited to ride this special ride. And the ride ops were really getting into it. Park was scheduled to close at 9:00, but the place was so busy they stayed open until 9:30. After waiting about an hour for a near back seat ride, I made it back into the queue a hair before 9pm and met up with Rideman. We waited over an hour for a front seat ride, then I managed to snag a bonus lap near the back of the last train of the night. 'Twas the most bitter sweet coaster ride I've ever had... at least until my final ride on Monday perhaps.

I was equally pleased this morning when I reached blindly into my sock and underwear drawer and pulled out a pair of blue boxer-briefs. YESSSSSSS!!!!!

I have no doubt, Lost, that you laugh along even when you don't understand. ;)

I rarely get emotional over inanimate objects - but it does feel like loosing part of my memory. I know the fondness will always be there, but being so used to Big Bad Wolf being part of the landscape of BGE, it will feel like there is something missing. Sad, but here is hoping the next "Modern, High Tech Thrill" is what we are all hoping for.

Real men ride wood... coasters that is!

I look at it this way:

Big Bad Wolf and Lochness Monster are to Busch Gardens Williamsburg what Corkscrew and Gemini are to Cedar Point. All the CP fans would lament over either one of those being removed so the same goes for those of us who are BGW fans. I said this before, to me the BBW "IS" BGW more than some of the newer coasters.

The late 70's and early 80's were a special time in amusement/theme park history when the steel coasters had really created a revolution in the industry. Any loss of these early marvels in engineering simply reminds those of us who grew up during this period or operated these rides during that time (when it was fun to be a ride operator having total control!) that we are getting old...and mighty fast : (
