BGW Howl-O-Scream 10-17-03

Associated parks:

I made the traditional October trip to BGW and I must say that this year's Howl-O-Scream seemed much better than last year. The crowds weren't really bad until about 6:00, but even then it wasn't unbearable.

The only thing I'll say about the coasters is that they gave their usual kick butt rides. The operators all looked like they would rather be somewhere else and trains were stacking, but the lines were not bad. On Alpengeist, there were three operators: one regular op, one maintenance man, and one "exec" type. Don't know what was up with that, but they did pretty good nonetheless. :)

I want to mention the two Dalmatians that stay with the Clydesdales. I absolutely LOVED their names: Bacardi and Silver! Very clever. :)

Nightmare Express was a great haunted train ride. The actual Ferris Wheel with the dead clowns hanging from it was a nice touch. Getting wet near the end in the "thunderstorm" was COLD! The line was not very long for this at about 7:00, and it was worth the ride.

I loved Sea Dog Cemetery! It always happens that someone "appears" out of nowhere and scares the @$*& out of me! No matter how many times I go back through, they STILL get me everytime! Good times. :)

Sleepy Hollow Mansion is a little intense for kids. Lots of gory stuff in there! But there are lots of "characters" that jump out at you, so that's always fun. The dining room tables filled with worms and other critters looked amazingly real. Very Fear Factorish. When exiting, you have to make your way through "dead bodies" hanging down. Creepy!

We caught the end of "Fiends In the Festhaus". Lots of great music and dancing. Next time I'll watch the whole show....looks like it would be really fun to watch.

"Jack Is Back" in Ireland was great! The dancing scarecrows on stilts were downright entertaining. At the end, when they shoot out the orange and black ribbons into the sky, everyone goes crazy trying to grab some for souvenirs. Ok, I admit that I did it too. But they were so shiny and pretty. :)

That's about all of the Howl-O-Scream that I indulged in. I wanted to get some coaster rides in before closing. We all had a great time as usual and can't wait for 2004! I went ahead and bought my daughter, Ashley, a season pass since she has finally reached coaster riding height for the big guns. She had a blast! (I also traded in my season pass card for the newest one featuring Dale Earnhardt, Jr. I venture to say that Anheuser Busch is making a decent ROI with him!)

That's my report, thanks for reading!

I have to disagree with you on the train ride. I though it was very very boring. They messed the audio up on it but it was still boring. How come you didn't do the Pompeii house or the clown one in Italy?

I guess the train ride is just a matter of opinion. :) As for the "Pompeii" attraction and the "Distorted Dementia", I just gave out of time. I'll do them first if they are there next year.

They should be there next year. Been there the last few years. Pompeii was truly awesome and the line moves pretty fast when its in the Q. I love Busch during Halloween time. Its so amazing! It makes me Happy! :>)

I agree with that! They do an amazing job. Howl-O-Scream is my favorite time to go to the park. I didn't mention it, but the "characters" that start walking around the park starting towards 6:00 are pretty good, too. They were scaring people walking by and it was really funny.....until they got me! :)

I noticed they had a lot less characters this year walking in the park like last year. Nobody in Oktoberfest area. It was kind of disappointed. But its still an amazing time to go. Its like 2 parks.
