BGW 2017

I'd say we're missing a lot for now. And there's a loooong wait ahead.

There was reported off-season activity around Le Scoot if I recall correctly. I wonder if it has anything to do with prep for this project?

The whole theme of this ride is silly, without even mentioning the terrible names. The Viking age ended about 400 years before the French were in North America; Norse trade ended 100 years or so earlier. I'm not asking for perfect historical accuracy - it's a theme park, not a museum. It's not even Epcot (and Epcot doesn't seem to care about accuracy as much as they used to). But if you're going to be wildly wrong, be wrong in the service of a good theme, or at least intellectual property. This just looks like a marketing department that didn't try.

(Here's a good name: "le vaurien." It means "villain" or "ruffian." You could keep the same idea of a village being raided without venturing into abject ignorance. And you could save the Viking theme for a Scandanavian section of the park, should the desire to build one arise.)

I don't know about anyone else, but there's no way I'll ever be able to focus on this coaster while riding because of my disappointment in the lack of a kick ass Norse name that no one can pronounce or translate.

Announcing the 2017 attraction this early seems like a bad idea from a marketing standpoint. You may lose some people who were going to go this year who will just put their trip off until next year. You could've got some of those people to double dip and go again next year.

I haven't been to BGW since 2001, and I have never done Kings Dominion. I was considering a road trip to both early this season, but I may now wait one more year for the new coaster.

They could name it Total Mayhem.

We'll be there this weekend. I am looking forward to it. We love BGW! Nice to see a wooden coaster coming next year.

Well at least they don't have to spend money on trains. They have 4 shiny new ones sitting in Florida.

I agree completely. To date, Busch Gardens has been one of the better parks about keeping their theming in line for each section. It's one of the reasons this park is on the top of my personal list. It is still a true theme park, and for the most part the park still has the feel of the original park that opened 41 years ago.

The theming of this ride makes no sense and a Viking theme would be better used in a future new area of the park.....with water around it.

This is a great addition to the park's lineup and fills a missing gap. It also is going into a section of the park that could use a new attraction.

What if it's a dueling coaster? There have been some hints in it, such as simply the name battle klash, or even invadr. When I think of a battle, I think of two sides going at each other, much like a dueling coaster.

Hey, let's ride (random Intamin coaster). What? It's broken down? I totally didn't expect that.

Honestly, dueling coaster was my first thought, too. Vikings vs Villagers. I thought of Lightning Racer at Hershey. Who knows? But that would be cool.

Went to see if RCDB had anything informational posted in regards to this ride.

As soon as I opened the page, random coasters comes up: Big Bad Wolf.

Now I have a sad...

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

I couldn't vote for Battle Klash. It makes me think of this lame game from my youth.

NewsPlusNotes has the layout. It is a short coaster. Intertwined with the railroad and I am assuming under the log flume.

For anyone wondering, they ended up going with the name InvadR.

It wasn't so much a wondeR as it was a feaR.
Thanks for the info anyway.

Excellent. I'm honored that the name that contains a variation of my namesake, at least phonetically, received the most votes. The spelling is dumb, but no matter...clearly I have great influence in the amusement industry.

Indeed. I heard they're going to sell bran muffins in the queue.

Check in on GrindR for quick queue if you're only 100 feet away and Right Now status.
