BGW 04/27/01!

Associated parks:
None

This was day one of my Virginia/DC area coaster trip. I dragged my friend Jackie along with me on my journey. She likes coasters but isn't a nut like I am. We flew in from Detroit the day before.

Arrived at BGW at 10:15 am. Saw Apollo's Chariot and fell in love! Got 10% AAA discount at the door so that was cool.

We first went to Lochness Monster because it didn't look like AC was running. Apparently, so did everyone else in the park because the queue was full! Skipped Lochness and went back to Alpie. What a beautiful park! Alpie was a 40 minute wait for the front. Good ride but I still like Montu better. Bought the pic ($10--ouch!)

Next we went to Big Bad Wolf. What a great coaster! Jackie really liked it too. Rode somewhere in the middle because we were kinda 'waited out' after Alpie.

We then rode the train around the park. Saw Drachen Fire. How sad. It looked so lonely. At least it had the birds nesting in it to keep it company ;) Oh well, looked like it might have been a painful ride anyways.

Then went to Appollos Chariot and rode twice without too long of a wait. It was everything I had expected :) I just love out and backs and was really looking forward to this coaster. Bought another overpriced pic :)

Stopped in Italy to have a salad and breadsticks. Then went on the MOuse. Jackie had never been on a Mouse so it was pretty fun for her. I always like a good Mouse. Almost missed this ride--good thing I knew it was lurking there!

We then went to do Escape from Pompei but it had just broken down :( So we walked around and took pics and when we came back by it was open. Didn't have to wait much at all. Nice ride. Glad we didn't get very wet.

We then got in a ride on Lochness Monster because the line was short. What a great coaster! Better than I had expected! Love the first drop and it was pretty darn smooth for an Arrow! Did this one again! We also did Alpie and BBW again.

Got to the 6pm showing of the 4D Pirates movie just in the nick of time. We enjoyed it :)

Almost time for the park to close. I wanted one last ride on AC. The line was kinda long and there were some horrible brats in front of us. After I got on the coaster I took my camera out of my khakis pocket and put it in my sweatshirt pocket to give me more room between the restraint and myself. It worked--the ride was airtime city! I love this coaster! Unfortunately, when I was in the air, my camera flew out :( It was only a disposable camera but I had a days worth of pics from the park on it! bummer :( Jackie took pics so at least I will have hers.

I knew that BGW would be the best park on the trip but it really surpassed my expectations. The park was beautiful and the employees were the nicest I have ever seen! Jackie felt this way too :) Anyways, it was a great day at a great park!

I can't wait to get there and see Ireland. Isn't there a new 4D extravaganza coming there too? Great TR. Glad you had a great time. I was surprised by Nessie too. I was surprised by all of the BGW coasters. Greatest quality of any park out there in coasters, food, service, atmosphere, etc. One of my fave parks.

PKI-Wooden, Helix, and Kiddie Coaster Capital of the World!
The First and Only Gigabuzzer bigger than Millie, rising Faster than Maggie, and pulls more BS than MS ever will!!!
Wow you got lucky with having backup pictures. I would be devastated if I lost my camera, even though I always use a disposable one. As many times as I have seen pictures of parks or watched them on TV, I always seem to get pictures I haven't seen before. I'm glad you liked BGW, it's extremely different from all other themeparks I've been to. I agree that they have nice employees, but it almost seems cultlike how they wave to everyone:) Most of their employees come from William & Mary College I believe.
