My dad and I went to BGW to celebrate my birthday. In a nutshell, Busch Gardens places its priorities in quality over quantity. It is the most well themed park I have been to yet (all four of them, oh well). I'll use a 0-10 rating system. On to the coasters...
Apollo's Chariot - 8/10
If you like airtime, this is your ride. AC has an out and back configuration with lots of hills and drops. I believe when you add all the drops up, it is the most in the world. This was the first B&M coaster I have been on and all the stories of smoothness are right on. To be honest, this might be my only complaint about AC. I sometimes enjoy a more rough experience when it comes to hypercoasters. One of AC's strong points is the rolling stock. The restraints are in the shape of a clamshell and it is all you can hold on to during the ride. There aren't any bars to grab like on Superman: Ride of Steel. Also, I am 6'2'' and my feet did not touch the floor. This really adds a lot to the ride. Overall, it earns a tie with S:ROS in my #2 spot all time.
Alpengeist - 10/10
Nothing is lacking in this ride. The inverted seats are unusually comfortable compared to the likes of Vekoma. Its combination of elements was outstanding. It has a drop, immellman, loop, cobra roll, foot-knocker tunnel, two heartline twists, and finally a helix. The cobra roll really pours on the G's. I rode this one five times, once in TOTAL darkness. The dark ride was the best coaster ride ever. Overall #1 on my list.
Loch Ness Monster - 6/10
I can easily see why people still enjoy this ride even though its over 20 years old. It's such a classic ride that the lines were definitely longer than Alpegeist's. That fact alone should tell you something. The interlocking loops are a great photo opportunity. Not to mention fun to ride ;). The tunnel/helix is actually pretty cool. I agree with you totally. I have been going there since 1978, and it has always been a great experience. Probably be the next park I work at.
