Best, worst arcades

The DDR machine under Kingdom of the Dinosaurs was total crap (as of last March). It's exposed to the elements and the pad was all rusty. I passed it up.
That gigantic arcade at CP is awesome, complete with old and new games. I went there in 2002 and they still had many old games, although I do remember that some were in rough shape.

IB is heaven-on-earth for pinball fans. They must have at least 15-20 unique pinballs between the main arcade and the one at their campground. I can't wait to get down there again soon (just a month away from opening day now).

Indiana Beach is great for pinball, another good pinball place is not in a park, but on a city street along the back side of the park...a couple of the arcades in Geneva-On-The-Lake, Ohio, right outside Erieview Park, have a decent selection of pinball.

Let me also suggest another arcade, in an unexpected place...summer of '02 I visited an arcade that had Discs of Tron, Spy Hunter, Ms. Pac Man, Q*Bert and Marble Madness, all in good condition: Adventureland Park in Altoona, IA.

I used to like going to arcades....that was untill the games started to cost 50cents to a doller to play anymore.

BRING BACK THE QUARTER ARCADE GAMES!!!

Just wanted to report that I went to a bowling alley the other night, and they wanted $1 to play the Ms. Pac Man/Galaga. Lame.

In related news, I can't believe the new Space Invaders reissue costs $2,500 to buy. Who would pay that?!?

IB had a great Marble Madness machine, and a few well-working Mortal Kombat machines... I dug it. But I liked the Fascination parlor much more. :)

I can attest to the Geneva-On-The-Lake arcades. They even had classy exteriors to boot. (err, what was the name of the one in the old theather building..err, they are owned by the same person too..) I'll have to root through and see if I have any photos....

Another notably fantastic location for arcades is the boardwalk at Ocean City, MD. Marty's Playland in particular has great selection of pinball and classic arcade games. And Sportland next door isn't slouch either(It also has Ham-On-Rye simulator, too. And farther up the boardwalk, Funcade isn't bad either, but just not quite the scope of the other two, but still fairly big arcade.

And another vote for Hersheypark's MineTown arcade. I've played their table version of "Demolition Derby" in that place years. *** Edited 4/12/2004 9:26:40 PM UTC by 13minutes***

Probably forgot to change the coin door inserts. The manufacturer actually thought people would pay a $1 for this and had the door fitted to accept Chuck E Chee- I mean, Sacajawea dollars. Definitely lame. BTW, you can also play Pac-Man on it :)

We bought 33 of them ;) Don't forget, it also comes with "Qix!"

Who remembers Mappy?

Nothing like playing a mouse in a cop uniform jumping on trampolines and dodging kittys. :)

Along with Dragon's Lair, I miss Space Ace.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.
