Best time to travel to Cedar Point from Australia?

Driving to Sandusky from Cleveland Hopkins is actually a pretty straight shot and Kings Island will be about a 6 hour drive from the general area ....

If the "general area" that you're referring is either Cleveland or Cedar Point and you drive south for 6 hours, you'll end up past Lexington, KY and near the Daniel Boone National Forest. Realistically, the drive from Cedar Point to Kings Island is only 3.5 to 4 hours (allowing for some expected construction only I-71 / I-75), which is much more manageable at the end of a day at a park than 6 hours. Flying would take longer than that (as well as cost more) once you factor in travel to airports, arrival for security, boarding, etc...Anyhow, we've all got Google Maps, but didn't want the op thinking KI was much of a stretch. Easy drive and worth the trip if you're already in Ohio. Beast at night is always a thing (though not the thing it once was) and don't sleep on Mystic Timbers for the same.

The drive from Cleveland Hopkins is such a straightforward, easy one that even I can do it without getting lost and that's saying something. KI is also a pretty straight shot from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky airport so I just might rent a car on my next trip there in lieu of using Uber.

I don't have any personal experience with this, but the last few years CP's opening weekend/first few weeks has been reported as catastrophically bad for ride closures.

You probably already know this, but Six Flags Platinum Flash Pass is super expensive but reduces that wait by 75% so it's basically never more than 15 minutes. If you use decent strategy and arrive for opening, you can probably knock out half the coasters (or get a bunch of laps on two or three favorites) within the first hour or two.

I only have experience with one trip to Kings Island. We did not travel straight there but for the most part went straight home (midway between Cedar Point and Hopkins) and it took us almost 6 hours. We only hit minor construction no major delays but my husband is very particular about the speed limit. I've heard other people say it takes them less time than it did for us but like I said hubby is strict about limits and that may be why.

3 hours, 34 minutes. Please keep out of the left lane.

I'm strict about speed limits, myself. I never drive under them.

With that said, pay attention to KI's closing time and its fireworks show. The park closes The Beast during the show, then reopens the ride and cycles the rest of the line through. However, if the show is put on at park closing, then you won't be able to get in line after the show ends. Just a few things to know.

This is sage advice. If the fireworks are at park closing, get IN LINE before the fireworks show, if you haven't ridden by the time the ride gets shut down for the show, then you can watch from the station, then wait for clearance, and the ride will re-open to finish off those guests in line. There is NO "run to the beast after the fireworks and get in line" option. Let me just add, Night Ride on the Beast > Cedar Fair fireworks show. (Although, the fireworks are pretty good for a nightly event at a regional theme park).

I remember cresting the lift on The Beast years ago while the Fireworks were going off in the sky above. Wasn't there a fire in the woods at some point that brought this to an end? If so, what year was that?

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.

We drove to KI from CP the last two years, 3.5 hours and that's hitting a little bit of construction. My hubby doesn't believe in speed limits.

If you drive 88 mph you can get there 3 days earlier.

As long as the flux capacitor is fluxing.
