Best themed coaster? Not best layout.

Alpengeist. The skis on the back of each row are just some of the themeing elements that stand out.
I must agree with Screamer and say that my favorite theme is the (Outer Limits) Flight of Fear. The first few seasons, the pre-show with the spaceship was TOP-NOTCH, and being an Outer Limits fan, I loved hearing the "There is nothing wrong..." part. I'm nervous to see what Paramount has to change with the dropping of the Outer Limits name. Hopefully the pre-show will continue to be excellent.

As an aside note, new episodes of The Outer Limits are now on Sci-Fi on Fridays.
I'd have to go with Flight of Fear or Exterminator...though I would pic DTransport if all the effects were working like back in the ol' day.

Of the themed coasters I've seen (granted not too many) I'd have to go with these for a two-way tie:

Dueling Dragons and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Great stations, queues, and ride (either the coaster itself or the theming inside it). True, Dragons doesn't have so much, but remember, the ride is still quite new and it takes time to really get that put together.

A non-coaster nominee: the Jurassic Park River Ride at IOA - superb again, and a fun ride as well.

Drachen Fire, Will it be swimming with the fishies?
Big Thunder? I was at Disneyland 6 months ago, and unless they've added theming, Space Mountain is the best themed coaster there is. Keep in mind I've only visited the parks on the west coast ( and Vegas)
Coaster at Playland in Vancouver,B.C. Will never find a more apropriate name or theme for a ride.

2001- the year of flight!
With respect to non-coasters, anything at IOA is great. The queue for Spiderman is truly outstanding. As for coaster queue theming, Dueling Dragons is outstanding. I agree, however, that the ride appears to be set on a vacant lot. Space Mountain deserves an award as the most enduring theming for a coaster. For cutesy stuff, nods to Thunder Mountain Railway, Goldrusher at Carowinds, and Disappointing Transport at CP. I've always held Nessie close to my heart, particularly when all of the light and water effects are operating. And although my final suggestion may seem inexplicable, I've always felt that the raw woodedness on the Beast, along with the subtle touches (beastly stone on first drop tunnel; selection of tunnel materials that `roar' for double helix), makes it perhaps the most persuasively `themed' ride out there... even though there aren't cut-out characters and flashing lights along the course.

The Demon at the Great Americas "used" to be great!

DUELING DRAGONS! No doubt in my mind.

I really dig Big Thunder. Space Mountain's theming seems a bit dated. Also, I like seeing where I'm going. (:

Coasterbob - I was talking about the BTMRR at DisneyWorld, Florida - I haven't been lucky enough to get to the west coast! :)

I have never rode Dueling Dragons, unfortunately, but Exterminator at Kennywood is tops for me.

I've never thought about that before, but that's an interesting way of looking at it.

For the best man-made theme, I'm gonna go with Dueling Dragons as well. No other queue and possibly keep aspiring riders so entertained.

I love the Ghostrider theming. Being located right there in Ghost town doesn't hurt.
DOuble Loop! j/k i`d have to say Hulk. How could you say FoF, the lights go off every 5 minutes, which gets VERY annoying in a 1 1/2 wait
