Best places to put an amusement park?

If you could pick any area, that doesn't have a theme park in a 4hr. radius, where would you pick?

Actually I think a great place to put a WB Movie World would be in Puerto Rico. There's no amusement park there, and I'm sure people would love it. I mean the island is so small. It takes only 1 hr, to go to the island from north to south, and 3hrs. from east to west. And it gets so many toursits, I'm sure some of those tourists would stop by there.

Another place, much like Puerto Rico, would be Hawaii. Same thing.

Another good place I think would be around the Detroit city area. They have a big population, and there are no parks around it. Maybe they could bring back Six Flags Autoworld from the dead.

The problem with the islands is the cost of land. Land is at a premium in these places, and it would cost a small fortune to buy the land to build a park there.
I just recently heard of SF Autoworld. Does anyone have any pics of it or pages about it?

While land may be at a premium in the industrial hub of San Juan, there is a whole lot of land with interstate access devoted to agriculture that can definitely be bought at a reasonable price. Having spent a great deal of time in Puerto Rico I can see where a modest amusement park would be huge. There's a water park out by the Plaza de America that appears to be mobbed with people when in season.

The problem with Puerto Rico getting a park is the same as Miami -- while the demographics are there in strides there is no existing park. A company would have to start from scratch. It's not as if Six Flags or Cedar Fair could march right on in and buy up a struggling park with all the land in place, and amp up the existing roster of rides. I don't see it happening and that's a financial shame.

Puerto Rico has 4 million residents and a healthy flow of tourism. While some might envision islanders as being poor that's the last thing Puerto Rico is, having many tax-friendly provisions in place that filled it with American industrialists. Nice cars and cell phones are the norm rather than the exception.

Puerto Rico is worthy of a park, though it's hard to pick out where. San Juan to Ponce or Mayaguez isn't a quick jaunt, and the best highways circle the island, so it's not as if a central location would work best (probably West or South of San Juan I would think). Miami-Dade and Broward also have 4 million residents but everyone is within an hour of one another. Puerto Rico has pockets of rurality (if that's even a word).

Still, I agree with you.

Ill admit, I would like to see a park in or close to Pontiac, Michigan. They could tear down "The Silverdome" and put a park in its place.

You can not buy land from the hawaiins, you can only lease or rent the land in hawaii.

I say put a park right next to Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn hills, Michigan. It is right on I-75, would already have another tourist attraction next to it, and the terrain would be awesome.

If I was in a position to where I could build a park, that would be where it would go... A park around here (Metro-Detroit) would probably do pretty good, especially considering everybody and their mom goes to SFWoA, and CP every month.

Although it's not in a 4hr driving radius of parks, The Adirondack mountains would make a great place for an amusement park . All those big mountains and trees and that feeling of isolation. Plus Riding through all those trees on a Roller Coaster!!!!!! But that will probably never happen Because of the APA-(Adirondack Park Agency) And thev DEC-(Department of enviornmental conservation) wouldn't allow it.

All ill say is Rhode Island needs an amusment park!
