Best Food Outside The Park

Just curious to see what everyone thinks is the best food places to go outside the parks are. I personally loved East Of Chicago Pizza in Sandusky. What are your favorites?

Hmm, well, most parks don't exactly have unique restaurants near them. Usually it's a mix of fast food and casual sit-down places (like Friday's outside CP or Outback near PKI). Or, in the case of Holiday World, there's no restaurants for miles around. :)

So I'll just go with the best restaurant I've ever eaten at *in association with* a park visit. Which would be Yoshi's Cafe, on the north side/Wrigleyville area of Chicago on Halstead. Even though it's at least an hour from SFGAm. ;)

well let's see....there is turoni's pizza in evansville, IN....arguably the closest large town near holiday world, about 40-50 miles away....turoni's is absolutely out of this world.

universal studios and islands of adventure would probably take the cake considering city walk is outside of the parks and it has everything from starbucks to emeril's restaurant....a very class sitdown restaurant. last month we tried out jimmy buffet's margaritaville at citywalk and were honestly pretty dissappointed.

Whatever you do, DO NOT eat at the Montana Steak house by CP. Angry Bull on 6 is good. Its a little ways from CP but good. I loved Friday the first 3 times I went but last time the service was horrible. Break Water CAFe sucks too!

Mike's Clam Shack in Wells, ME is not that far from Funtown in Saco ME (around 22 miles away). Great Lobster Stew (large size bowl and a claw in every spoonfull) and Lobster Rolls (hold the mayo and add a side of melted butter to drizzle over the top). Call me crazy, but I would travel from PA to Canobie Lake in Salem NH again, I would even make a trip up to Mike's (65 miles away).

Well for Martins Fantasy Island, when I was younger, we would always go to the Pizza hut before a little ways down the road. Now for SFDL, we go to the Subway right off the exit. Cheaper prices and air conditioning than at the park.

The steakhouse inside the Ramada Inn in Sandusky is amazing. I thinks it's called the Roadhouse, I'd go there just for the salad alone! They have the biggest baked potatoes I've ever seen in my life!
I'd have to go with Rainforest Cafe in Gurnee Mills near SFGAm... It doesnt have the greatest food, but it has great theming that makes up for it.

Chet and Matt's Pizza on Strub Road in Sandusky...now that's Good Eats!

The McDonalds in Williamsburg.
There's a cute donut (doughnut?) shop across from the Indiana Beach campground near the north parking lot. Fabulous cream puffs...

Otherwise I'm stumped...I usually just look for a Subway.

Any Con-Questers remember where that good BBQ place was near SFNE? A little shack right off the highway...

And I'll say the rest since you won't:

"Oh and by the way look at my newwwwww photo at IB. I love IB. Did I mention I stay pretty close to IB?"

Back on topic, tho...I guess the best grub around VF would have to be The Buffet at Mystic Lake Casino. Think Midway Market with three times better food. Okay, maybe you don't consider blackened salmon park fare, but where else are ya gonna go? Culver's in Shakopee?

-'Playa

(who's just bitter cuz he didn't get to IB this summer)

I have one place I look for above all others, just because we don't have them in my part of PA yet - Steak `N Shake.

Barring that, I usually ask the locals. :) Oh, and if I'm at Knoebels...well, I'd drive there just to eat....

Danbury, Conneticut, I think. No one thinks of Conneticut when it comes to BBQ, and the freeway-side location was not promising, but day-um that was some good 'cue!

I have to agree with the East of Chicago Pizza near Cedar Point. There's nothing better than stuffing yourself full of pizza before taking on some of the best coasters in the world.

There's also plenty of eats near Dorney, but the one we always seem to gravitate to is the Friday's right up the road.

Emeril's is overrated.

Dave & Busters at the waterfront down aways from Kennywood. It's practically an amusement park in itself.
East of Chicago Pizza sucks. Give me Cameo Pizza in Sandusky any day!

Steak 'n Shake is #1 with my family. It's as much a part of a trip to SFGAm as the park itself.

Projected count for 2003: 29 parks & 102 coasters. Actual as of 8/29/03: 25 parks & 91 coasters.
