Best food at Cedar Point

Very pleased with Melt this year. The bar is so much better than last year and the kitchen seems on the ball also.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks, than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I can also vouch for Melt, went there in May, was very good. I would kill for some of the stuff off the walls. Famous Dave's as many others have said is also worth the trip, though I wouldn't really consider it out of park, even though it technically is. Also, don't miss a basket of fries from Happy Friar.

I am surprised nobody hasn't mentioned the hand-breaded tenders at Stockade Refreshments. They used to be at Frontier Inn (now is a Chick-fil-A) right next to Maverick and while I haven't been to the park yet this year, they were really great at Frontier Inn and from what I heard, they have improved upon the recipe since then.

Yes, those are excellent. They also have them at Crystal Rock in CP Shores. The seem a little more flavorful this year, maybe a touch spicer, but the chicken meat is just as tender as last year. Much better than anything at Chick-fil-A IMHO.

I'll leave the fried chicken to Mrs. Knotts.

Melt = yum. We always like Panda too. Just about everything has been mentioned except Chickie and Pete's. I just find it interesting that nobody is raving about it when they made such a big deal about it opening a couple years ago. I can leave it more than take it.

I was excited about getting chickie’s and Pete’s at Carowinds. I’ve yet to get something that wasn’t soggy, over cheesed, and nasty. So I don’t bother (and I have the dining pass).

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

We at at Chickie's and Pete's once and will never return. The food was subpar.

tall and fast but not much upside down

The crab fries are good. Everything else is just.. meh.

Sucks.

Maybe it was because we tried them at one of the preview nights, but after taking a few bites of the first sample the rest went into the garbage. I guess I did not care much for the burnt taste or the extra, extra crispy breading.

I haven’t had the tenders at CP, but the ones at KI and KD this year are horrific. I assume the chain changed vendors. I found them to be flavorless and the chicken was tough and stringy.

Last edited by PhantomTails,

A friend of mine just got back from a few days at CP. He didn’t remember where but he said one place had the worst chicken tenders anywhere ever. His 4 & 6 year olds wouldn’t even eat them.

But then again, what do I know?

Check the baskets in the picnic area... :)

Seriously, I haven’t been eating in the park much, so I don’t have good recommendations, but I didn’t want to waste the joke.

Aren't these just fries with old bay? Because I make those at home and they are bangin, no need for Chickie or Pete.

I'm going to disagree with Hambone and say that CJ's provisions is pretty good for the wraps. If you're looking for a slightly healthyer option, the wraps are good. I can't vouch for the other options they have other than wraps.
Miss Keat's is good as well. They usually have fresh fruit that is quite good by Cedar Point standards.

Basically, but they'll tell you it's not just Old Bay. Either way, I'm not taking the time to make fries, or cheese sauce, at home - so they can have my $10 every once in a while.

Worst part about this thread is that I've been going to CP religiously since I moved here in 1999, and I don't have a good answer. There's really no standout food at CP, (That I've found) besides Pinks and Melt.

"New, " "improved," "Hand breaded," "Hand tossed" are all popping up, but are still theme park quality pizza and chicken strips.

Famous Daves is about as bad as BBQ chains come, so I can't imagine their CP location is better.

Earlier in the year they had specialty food trucks which offered a refreshing change of menu. We ate at the Chicken And Waffles one and it was pretty good. But those are gone now.

No I've not tried Brews and BBQ. (To me, drinking and coasters are not a good match.)

Rotisserie chicken with mac and cheese at Crystal Rock in the water park or the smoked chicken wings and mac and cheese at Miss keat's.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a similar opinion. Never got why folks rave about it.

In addition to the two zoug68 mentioned, the Frontier Foldovers near the exit of Snake River falls are pretty good too.
