I've found you can touch many of the SLC supports, at least in the slower bits (I've only done it on the lift, and the second brakes). I don't know about it during the 'faster parts', but I'd be tempted to think that you can. I'll leave it to someone with a prosthetic arm, or values their own wellbeing less than myself(though on Lethal Weapon, they do often make mention to not taking artificial limbs on the ride... and rubber chickens).
