Outside Anaheim's downtown convention center, the usual crop of vacationing families were boarding theme park shuttles, sporting Mickey Mouse ears or Star Wars backpacks. Inside, Sen. Bernie Sanders was denouncing the Walt Disney Co. as an example of the economic greed and media control that had exploded America's wealth gap.

I wonder, what is "fair" about criticizing Bob Iger for a position and salary that, very clearly, he has earned.
Sanders is entirely wrong about the H1-B program as well. Disney hires H1-B's like anyone else, to work locally, but what they did in Orlando IT was replace people with mostly off-shore resources, in jobs that increasingly require less skill and have a larger talent pool. The net hiring there is more Americans, not less. Disney IT, if you believe people working there, is ripe for a massive reorg to eliminate all of the excess and bureaucracy that doesn't add value.
I like Sanders when his rallying call is to get money out of politics, and push for campaign finance reform, but then he dives into the hyperbole pool of success = evil unfairness, and he loses me every time. I'm sure it's not his intention, but it sends a message that fairness has nothing to do with an individual's accountability and action.
Facts aren't really necessary in politics. Sometimes (particularly if they require an explanation longer than a 20 second sound bite) facts can be a hindrance. At most, you just need colorable facts.
Disney will maintain their attendance in the parks no matter what. Not just the top ten percent of the top one percent of the population! 😉
Not at all surprising to hear from Mr. Anti-Capitalism himself. And the stupid "living wage" argument...like Disney is forcing people to work there.
I'm waiting for Bernie to start complaining about the unfairness of Michigan's Adventure not getting a new coaster...
Yeah, who needs free publicity anyway?

Sanders's internal polls must have indicated that attacking the Happiest Place on Earth, while a few miles away from the Happiest Place on Earth, to a crowd of people that either work for the place or indirectly benefit from it through tourism dollars, was a good strategy. Or the man's just become a tad too impressed with himself.
"The term is 'amusement park.' An old Earth name for a place where people could go to see and do all sorts of fascinating things." -Spock, Stardate 3025
Oh Bernie, God love him..I guess he thinks that if their wages are increased, they can all donate 27 bucks a piece to his campaign.
