Being a Wicked Twister Ride op makes you stupid

I really hope this doesn't cause flaming. But I was there today and they were just plain dumb. The guy who was running was crazy. One time he was like, "Ready for launch in 3,2,1,.....................whoosh." Next time (when I was on) he said, "Ready for launch in 3, whoosh, 2, 1." Also, they just do all sorts of other crazy things that really makes me mad, and I hope it's better next year. Does anyone agree with me?

I am a boy.

At least you get a 3,2,1 at my homepark (SFgadv) we use to get 3,2,1 ,etc now we get clear to Batman/Robin.

The point of that is to liven up your experience. It was done in the name of fun...Would you rather have monotonous robot nazis working your rides?

Why is it stupid? It seems to me that the ride-ops are just goofing around with the statement they have to make before each launch of the train.

If you dont like it, than ignore it.

2 superheroes in Gurnee next season? Oh the humanity. :)

Oh lord.....CPnut, do you ever think anything through? Did you consider that the ride ops are playing with the people.....having fun? Some would call it showmanship.

If that makes you mad, I really feel sorry for you.....

Next time wear earplugs when you go to the park. Or tell them to shut up, and see where that gets you. Or how about this, WHO CARES ?

By the way, the V2 ops at SFGAm have been doing this since V2 opened. Probably every ride op of of a launched coaster says something similar to joke around. Your post about it is more lame than them saying it.

Really? I always get the same old boring "Clear for launch" on V2 at SFGAm. Then I usually count down 4 seconds in my head and we're off.

I like it when you don't know when your going to launch. It's great anticipation.

I love what they do on the WT, most of the time i was on it, they did that....after 2 it launches.
The op is just making the ride experience(and his job) more exciting. Nothing wrong with that!

I wish they did that all the time, I hate knowing when you're going to launch, its so much more fun when it just goes! And I hope that they hang on to the guy that's been doing this for the entire Halloweekends (been there for 4 of the weeks) cause he's just hilarious!

I think this means CPNut should have to relinquish his screen name, cause he sure isn't earning it ...

At SFEG on Sidewinder I would always go 3, 2, launch, and say "Aww, my finger slipped" as they left. The job is very repetitive, sometimes ride ops keep their sanity by doing stuff like that.

Hmmph. I wish the ride ops on V2 would do that. I think counting down to a moment heightens the anticipation, and makes for a more exciting launch. Just siting around, not really knowing when it's gonna happen means you're not quite ready to take in the experience when it does. That, and I think it would be fun to watch the ride ops come up with neat variations to keep both the riders and themselves entertained.
God forbid you have fun at an amusement park. *shakes head*

Smite Smite Smite ...

The best one is when that dude on WT lets the people on the train count down their own launch from 5 ... then launches when they all hit 2 ;)

I agree, it's all in good fun. Three, two, one.....Uh oh, something's wrong.....Launch! :)

Linear Gale counts down with a pre recording in English, and I don't think it takes away from the experience. In fact, it's kind of fun to count down with it.

But I still love the ride-op jokes. We've had some great threads on those.

TOGO!

Now why didn't they do that last Saturday?

I was just wishing one of the rideops would have miscounted and scared the crap out of CBaby.

My favorite Ride Op on a launched coaster was the guy running Greezed Lightning at SFAW on the Coaster Zombie Trip. One of the times he read the safety instructions long after the train had left the station in a monotone voice. It cracked us all up.

The first year it was open it wasn't really stated what was to be said. This season "Clear for launch" is the only authorized spiel to say before the train is launched, so that is all you will here. SFGAm is very professional with many operating procedures.
