Beer Sales at Parks pointless?

Dennis, it's common sense...smoking is an expenisve habit. Not all people save up for more smokes, but several people that don't drink will save up if they have any economical sense at all.

I agree with Chitown...don't stereotype people that drink, smoke or both in unproven situations.

Your best? Losers are always whining about doing their best...winners go home and ******* the prom queen.

No offense to all of you who drink. But alot of people who drink at parks make it harder for the rest of us! One guy spilled his entire 20 ounce glass of BUD on me. Because he was so drunk! And While one visit, a man kept unbucling his seatbelt on the lift hill, and we had to stop. The ride operator had to climb up the lift hill buckle him up, then start it up again. And the guy kept unbuckling. So after the 4th time they escorted him off, and he through a fit. I sat there on the lift for 5 minutes. because they guy could not control his pothole and stop drinking. There should be a limit to the amount of beer you can drink! Like you must show your ticket, and the mark it so you cannot have more than a couple drinks!

This has got to be one the most ignorant statements ever posted on this site. Do you really believe that most drinkers don't follow the rules?
Ghostrider2001,I really think your situation was more of a security problem.
A park shouldn't tolerate that kind of behavior.
Every park that I can think of has already banned smoking in queues. It is both a fire safety and health issue in the crowded conditions of a queue. Kind of the same thing as theaters that have always banned smoking.

Alcohol doesn't seem to have presented much trouble in my experience in parks. The few people that I have seen who were really drunk were just friendly. It might be a problem for ride operators though with people who are too drunk to be safe wanting to ride. It may also be a general problem for the park with falls. However, it seem that most parks limit people enough that they don't let them get seriously drunk.

With regards to location of drinking, as a practical matter for parks it is probably easier to control any issues if drinking if it is confined to limited areas. But, in most cases, I believe that the limited areas are governed as much by ABC laws as by the park *** This post was edited by Jim Fisher on 7/14/2001. ***
I don't have to be drunk to spill things. Most people who enjoy a drink do so in an undisturbing manner because most people don't like to be redneck. It's simple, if for some reason, you don't like beer being sold, go to family parks that don't allow it. I really have never seen all-out drunks wrecking havoc on sobber people at a park, not saying it doesn't happen, I guess it's all in your perspectives. I can have a good buzz and you'd never know, I think alot of people are like that, it's about being responsible. It's wierd, I'd be ill if I could not purchase the beer.

Actually its thanks to the St. Louis Cardinals who was sold by Busch's son to invest more money into the amusement park chain. I love rollercoasters and all but still think it was a stupid move by Busch's son. Old man Busch would be turning over in his grave if he new his son sold the cardinals one of his prize possesions.
From my experience when people are drinking, they smoke more. My sis, mom, and dad all smoke alot more if they are drinking. Maybe it's just my family though, I dunno.

Selling beer at parks doesn't bother me, and smoking doesn't either, the only thing that bothers me is poeple that smoke in a line. You don't really have the choice to get away from it in a que, but other than that, if I don't like it, I leave.

If people are stupid enough to pay the parks price I don't have a problem with it. But I do have a problem with it when they are drinking it in the "kiddie areas" of the park. I wish parks would set up "designated beer areas."

More parks than not do have designated beer areas or at least restrictions on where you can take it. Some parks don't sell it at all (like Kennywood).

By the way, I'm one of those people who are apparently "stupid enough" to buy a beer at the park, because I do it all of the time. Sure, some people get drunk, but that doesn't make all beer drinkers drunks anymore than all teens are troublemakers at parks. Some people enjoy beer because of the way it tastes.

Don't generalize, because it generally leads to trouble.
