I used to be a, relatively active member here back in the day but I have not posted or even read much in a long time.
I haven't gone on a coaster, or even a ride, or even stepped into a park since 2005. I am so far out of the know, that it's difficult to play catch up.
What have I missed these past 6 years. Any industry-changing new coasters? Looking to get back into the fold, at least info wise. No trips planned until Nov of this year, and that is to Disney. Not sure what I'll go on though. Bad back and neck issues to deal with anymore. :(
Well, the fastest coaster is now in Dubai. The tallest wooden coaster is now in new jersey. Cedar Fair has a new CEO. Six Flags went bankrupt, the 'phoenixed' into a much better company. A massive theme park playground was planned for UAE, but the financial downturn of '08 put a kibosh on those plans.
Also, Gonchar grew a beard.
Ensign Smith is now an Admiral.
And Great Adventure still doesn't have a hotel.
LMAO, Kevin. :)
I'd say you missed a lot of inside jokes, if it weren't for the fact that they all occurred in public.
Son of Beast lost its loop, then its operational status altogether.
Way out of the loop... :)Last edited by rollergator, Friday, February 10, 2012 9:11 PM
The tallest wooden coaster isn't in New Jersey yet...The best wooden coaster is in NJ, but the tallest is still in Ohio.
Well, the fastest coaster is now in Dubai.
No, it's not -- it's in Abu Dhabi, which is a different emirate.
Jeff had a baby.
LK and Gonch get along now.
Six Flags bought out Disney and has added a giant B&M looper clone to all the Disney parks and called them SuperMickey: Deck of Flight.
(Okay, I made that last one up.)
...The best wooden coaster is in NJ,
Yeah, *I* really love me some Rolling Thunder, too. :)Last edited by Mike Gallagher, Saturday, February 11, 2012 7:30 AM
I was talking about Hellcat ;-).
Technically, Diana had a baby, and I just contributed DNA.
All Paramount parks were bought by Cedar Fair and Geauga Lake was dismantled and is now just a waterpark.Cedar Fair has moved several rides from one park to another:X- Flight(GL) to Kings Island and renamed Firehawk,Dominator(GL) to Kings Dominion, Thunderhawk(GL) to Michigan Adv.,Steel Venom(GL) to Dorney Park and renamed Possessed,Head Spin(GL) to Carowind, got a new train and renamed Carolina Cobra,Texas Tornado(GL) to Cali's Great America and renamed Firefall.Demon Drop(CP) to Dorney, Boomarang from Cali's Great America to Dorney and renamed Stinger.Wind Seekers have popped up at most Cedar Fair parks along with the upcharged Dinosaurs Alive.
Cedar Point is still being voted best amusement park in the world and has the #1 coaster and is tied with Six Flags Magic Mountain for the most in the world.
An intamin giga coaster was added to Kings Dominion and Canada's Wonderland is getting B&Ms first giga coaster this year.
Cedar Fairs future looks very bright with their new CEO.
LK and Gonch get along now.
Don't you mean Dexter and Gonch?
I... I have NOOOO idea what you are talking about, Joel. ;)
Kabletown bought a 51 percent stake in NBC Universal. They then rebranded the comapny NBCUniversal. It then bought out Blackstone's share of Universal Orlando.Last edited by WOF Guy, Sunday, February 12, 2012 4:59 PM
