BeastBuzz 2006

Sunday, June 18, 2006 6:47 PM
Well we had a great time this year and I must say those who missed it missed a great time. There was food, fun, games and the scavenger hunt. Ok so, now it is time to start posting answers to see how we did. Any of the top 3 want to post answers and explainations?

I'd be glad to give the answers I remember, but I don't remember the questions. Did anyone walk away with a set of questions?

Yeah, I remember them. I will post them in a general way tomorrow.

I'd also be happy to give away the answers I can remember once you post the questions.

Off the top of my head, here are a couple of the more difficult ones. Some I don't remember the answers to; either I forgot, or our team didn't get it during the hunt. I was on the eventual 2nd place team (after I had a brain freeze, and inverted the size of the Beast's first drop -- I said 153'; it's 135'. Doh).

-The "call before you dig" question was found by finding the green box out by the PKI marquee in the parking lot.

-The question about finding the slogan underneath a creatures paw was found on one of the items hanging up in the Top Gun queue.

-The question where you had to visit the History of Paramount and count 79 squares netted an answer of C79 (I think). You then had to go to the airbrush tattoo place near action zone, and look up that design code, which was a sun.

-VIP parking spaces: 69 or 70, depending on whether they considered one of the empty areas on the parking lot a parking space.

-The Starbucks question was found by getting the name off the sample credit card pictured on the front of the Starbucks Visa card application.

-14 was the number of the fire hydrant located outside of the FestHouse.

-The name printed on the fish food vending machines near Viking Fury: OAK.

-The two rides with incorrect height requirements were found on the park map (Planktons Plunge and Phantom Flyers).

I'll add some more if I can remember them. I'm working on about 4 hours of sleep, so everything is a bit fuzzy.

Anyway, the entire day was fantastic, in spite of the large crowd. My thanks out to the PKI marketing/PR team, and Jeff for pulling it off. I sincerely hope that BeastBuzz continues after Cedar Fair takes the reigns next season.

Jerry

You guys would not believe the estimated number of people at the park yesterday. *** Edited 6/19/2006 12:24:30 AM UTC by ttdmfwtm***

We left before the late night ERT and based upon the mess in the parking lot, 36K seems almost too few.

It was a great time and I look forward to next year.

Maybe the SH winners could share one of their "opoly" games for the answers we swapped with them. Like the Starbucks one, or Oak. ;)

The hunt was WICKED. We managed to get about 20 of them correct, and we just ran out of time and had to just guess some of them. The night ERT was great, it was the first time I had stayed for a BeastBuzz ERT, and I got a decent number of rides in.

I'm going to do a big TR soon, including all the scavenger hunt questions, and what I can remember of the answers we got for them.

Between the crowds and the heat, it was crazzzy!
...but it was still a GREAT time. Jennifer was almost too good with the scavenger hunt questions.

Here's to hoping for a BeastBuzz '07, Cedar Fair style! ;)

(...and to put a face with a name, since I didn't really get to meet anyone, I'd be the person that was wearing the yellow Cedar Point "Get off your (donkey) and ride" t-shirt.)

I was not able to go because I was backpacking and kayaking around Catalina Island in the San Pedro channel for the last week.

I had this planed for over a year so that is why I did not plan around it. How was it?

Both me and my riding partner gowithgravity tried to work on some of the questions while in queues like the Italian Job, but we quickly realized that it would take us all day long. We did come up with several answers or possibilities, but we didn't have time to investigate all of them. We hadn't visited the park since 02', so there were many new rides for us to conquer first.

The one question that had us baffled was about Viking Fury. Who exactly are the golden guys? I was guessing maybe they were the dancers in the karoke show, but I don't think that's right. The numbers of nails quesiton about The Beast also was difficult, because as far as we could determine, it's no longer listed. It's not on the stat sign near the ACE plaque, and it's no longer in the station, so where would we find it? [on a t-shirt perhaps?] It was great time, and I would love to do another scavenger hunt when the park's not so busy and we wouldn't have so many new rides to us.

~Lara Crofts Vehicle was $175,000

~ 280 was the number of maximum occupants in the beast arcade plus the number of seats on one Beast train.

~ Opposite of The Hunt for red October was another movie which opened on WEDNESDAY.

~ I believe there were 45 candy tubs in the candy store across from Racer.

~ Florida was the Liscense Plate Question

~ 42 blue lines, although 47 may have been the answer too.

~"Bob's your uncle" was the phrase to mean that was understood.

~ Miner's express was the name of the "metal" train.

~ 13 upper teeth on reptar

~ 15-30 SPF for sunscreen

~ OAK was the "tree" on top of the fish food dispenser.

Okay... Like I said, I probably got some wrong.

I disagree with Coasterdaddy on 1 question.

#14 asked for the name of the Metal express. Iron Horse was the name of the engine, Miner's express was the name of the entire train.

As for the blue lines, I have to apologize to Coasterfan. He said 47 originally, but we changed it to 42 based on Joe C. Recount. Whats up with that Joe? ;)

A fun time was had by all though.
