Beast in the beginning??

The last time I rode the Beast was in 1998, and at that time is was faster than the first time I rode it in 1979.

The big change that I remember is that the mid-course tunnel actually used to be split into two tunnels. And they weren't lit up at all.

FOF, Beast has always had Dividers.

Sean, I said normal operations :)

I've you've ridden the ride without the trims.....you'd notice a difference. I BIG one. They had em off one time last year for a Discovery film shooting. Wow that thing was crazy!

It's his turn to feast, when you ride the Son of Beast.

PKI Fanatic, Did you get the early morning walkback on the final sunday last year? Just plain insane buddy!

Whens your going away party at PKI? July 15th?

Chuck, who was at the discovery shoots.

The Beast is still a great ride no matter what, I know you guys are atleast getting some air, because I weigh 230 pounds and I'm outta my seat on the first and second drops.

Thanks for all the great info! I rode the Beast last Monday for the morning walkback and it was one of the best rides I have had in years. I rode in the front seat and got som good air on the second drop and some great laterals. We got right back on and rode in the very back. Airtime on the first hill was great!!! The laterals after the second tunnel were vicious. It was outstanding. Hey Charles you are right about the Beast being tempremental! I rode it midday and it was just average.

Magnum rules!!

The Beast wasn't that fast opening night because it usually takes a new coaster a few weeks to warm up. I rode the Beast all thru the 80's until 1994. Haven't been back since. I had a few brakeless or near brakeless rides in the 80's and it was outta control. I remember those trains raging around those curves so fast, thought they were gonna rip right off the track. It was like they were up 'on one wheel'. After Vortex was built, it seemed for some reason that the Beast got a little less thrilling every year. More brakes. Ratchet lap bars (not that the ride has lift anyway). Headrests. More brakes. They painted the ride BROWN. Ug! Lights in the tunnels. Did I mention more brakes?

I'll probably go back this summer since the park has changed so much in the past 8 years. I've heard that papa is better with the new brakes, but I'm sure it's not as good as it was in the early to mid 80's.

I have rode the beast probably 30 times since last year and the lights haven't been on once.

The Beast and Night, They go together like Peanut Butter and Jelly

We had some good rides on the Beast that day didn't we Al. Our last ride in the back was awesome. I really thought they were gonna let us go again. But guess not. That Brian guy had some Holiday World employee qualitys. They need to give him a raise. First nice person I have seen in PKI for awhile.

-----------------
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! My dikfus.

I love it now more than ever with those lights back there that aren't on anymore. There are only a few more lights that need to burn out or break and it will just be insane at night. The Brian guy your talking about, if this is the same person, is just a great person. He always is clapping his hands at night and getting the crowd into it. He is a ride op out of place. He would fit in a CP where a lot of the ride ops are like him. He will ask you if you've had a good day and he tells you to enjoy the ride. Im almost positive he is the # 1 ride op at PKI. I've seen him over the years working there and he has always been how he is now.
I think they need those 4 lights on the ride just to make sure everythings ok, it ain't that big of a deal still the best at night.

Hey Beast_rocks, that Brian guy you are talking about, thats me!!! Thanks for the wonderful compliment. The Beast has a very dedicated crew this year. We have had a lot of fun this year and it is always an honor to have someone recognize our hard work. Once again thank you for the wonderful compliment. See you at the Island.

Beast Crew 2002

Flyer, or Brian, do you work at the eagles sometimes also? And about what I said, no problem, just the truth. The whole beast crew runs that ride excellent. One more thing, I doubt you remember but a while back, when there were still only 2 cars running my sister droppped her hat on the brake run. We came back at the end of the night and you were the one to get it, thanks for getting it.

Beast crews are always great. Fast and fun. Last year I was sent there and I had a blast. Then this year every time I rode they had the nicest crew in the park. That crew should be an example for every crew in the park

Part of a Flight Attendant's arrival announcement: "We'd like to thank you folks for flying with us today. And, the next time you get the insane urge to go blasting through the skies in a pressurized metal tube, we hope you'll think of us."

Yep Beast Crew thanks for keeping the lines nice and short for us.

The beast... at night, in a fog. Amazing.

-----------------
Can't this thing go any faster?

I remember the first year and the helix was still being built (the cover). They had the vertical boards in place and they went sailing past you as the car felt like it was going to be ripped off the tracks. It was very intense. Of course in those days there was the first tunnel and the shorter middle tunnels.

Yeah Steve, Brian was insanely nice!!! HEy Brian Steve and I were the guys that you thought were making fun of you, but we weren't. We were just so surprised by you enthusiasm and dedication to making everyone happy.

Maybe you could give us some breakless runs!

The Beast ROCKS at night.

Coaster Counter: 80+...I need to sit down and figure it out :)

Yeah, you are awesome Brian. Me and Binaural were the ones in the back seat screaming for one more time. Then the rest of the train started looking at us like we were stupid!
