Be your own spy satellite!!!

Ok, I seemed to have hit pay-dirt on this thread over at guidetothepoint.com. After several days of trying to get on to Terraserver.com to check out those pictures of Area 51 that was all over the news, I decided to plug in a plot to my favorite park (Cedar Point) and the images I got back are simply AMAZING, to say the least!!

Below are links contributed by several members over at GTTP of several other parks.. and they are...

Cedar Point:

You can click anywhere on the image and zoom in to see great detail! Click download, and save the image to disk or hard-drive. Heck, you can even search your own neighborhood!! Kinda makes you wonder who's watching!!!

If you find your favorite park, be sure to post it back here!!

Fun Fun!!

I think this is Magic Mountain. I have never been there, but I followed directions on Six Flags' site from LAX. It is definitely a park, but not 100% its MM.

Yeah it's definately Magic Mountain. But it's too old to see Riddler, Superman, and Goliath.

It sure looks like a water park in February.
Here's Disneyland in Anaheim. A little to the East is Edison International Field.

Why are these so old? Does anyone know the history on why they havent updated these yet?
They are satellite images that are only taken for the purpose of finding topography and for finding landscapes. They are not there to find roller coasters, that's why they haven't been updated.

Not a big deal - but I posted D-Land about five messages ago. :)
Pretty cool site. Are these images taken from a satellite or are they taken from aircraft?

It depends on the area that you're looking at, according to a FAQ or something I read on there.

If look carefuly at the bottom you can see the 1927 rollercoaster, Jack Rabbit. The first coaster that I ever went on. YOu will probably notice the water park first the rest of the park is below it.
One of my personal favorites- Waldameer Park and Water World can be seen in this shot(well, the waterslides are visible at least....as is the drive in across the street):

Conneaut Lake Park can be seen here (and I figured out the zoom this time!):

And let's not forget Geauga Lake- you can really make out the old Wave and the Euroracers in thsi shot:

I was on the site and moving down the Cedar Point Peninsula and I was suprised by the large number of houses that occupy the lower portion of it. Are these the houses that the park rents out or owned by employees or are they private residences?
and if you're interested in defunct parks check out Chippewa Lake Park:

http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.asp?S=10&T=1&X=2119&Y=22732&Z=17&W=2

The Big Dipper coaster is barely visible but the ballroom and a few other buildings can be seen clearly.
Those houses on the Cedar Point Chaussee are in deed private residences. The big cheese at CP himself, lives right on the edge of the Chaussee and the CP Parking lot.
