Barefoot @ Arcade

Tried this today. The pads were horribly dusty, even after I took some paper towel to clean them. It was quite a different feeling, with definite disadvantages. I couldn't slide between arrows, obviously, without the danger of hurting my feet.

It also sounded like I was stomping the whole time, but that was only because of the balls of my feet hitting the arrows.

I've played in socks before because I've frequently ended up wearing the heavy shoes I wear to work and generally everywhere in the winter. Not a big deal, and in fact I actually feel a little lighter on my feet.

This is one of the disadvantages of learning how to play strictly on a soft pad. I'm used to playing in socks--as not to rip up my pad--but then when I'm actually on the DDR stage it feels weird to me, like I'm being weighed down because of my shoes. Unfortunately where I play they require shoes at all times.

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.
I always play in socks at home and in my tennies at the arcade. Seeing as how the arcade pads are usually disgustingly filthy, I'd rather keep my shoes on. Plus they're usually slippery.

I started playing in arcades so I am used to my shoes, even at home.

I have a metal pad at home and went barefoot once to reduce the wieght like CPgenious said, and I ended up cutting my foot on a screw. So from now on I use shoes, they aren't bad, you just have to get used to them.
I don't have a soft pad at home to play with, so all i do is play in my Phat Farms. =D

yeah i still step on those stupid arrows... ...so what? >_>
I have cut and/or hurt my feet many times on my metal pads at home, but it's still better than playing with shoes on. I get blisters when I play with shoes for too long.
