Engineers will always make mistakes. There will always be some unknowns that may need to be corrected in production, on-site or whatever. As long as it gets corrected I don't see any problem with repairs on new rides.
Depends on the nature and magnitude of the issue. It's not ok if people get hurt. Some companies seem to have engineers that make less mistakes than others.
Fatigue is specifically the initiation and propagation of cracks in a material. Since cracks can be discovered via visual inspection, magnetic-particle inspection or leak testing, proper maintenance can deal with them before they ever lead to a catastrophic failure.

Yes... I should have said fatigue limits, which I edited to be a bit more clear in my original post :)
One of my favorite coaster memories is waiting in line for the Viper and Predator at Darien Lake as a kid with my (now late) father... He worked construction and was explaining the need for these structures to have a bit of give. I recall watching the trains go through the respective wood and steel courses with him and he would point out the structure swaying a bit. And now I see it in most coasters... My old man was incredibly smart, especially seeing as he never finished high school.
But then again, what do I know?

I got stuck getting off the couch this afternoon. Someone call the press!
This. Right here.
Made my day.
I was hesitant to start a new thread for this, but this seems like a perfect place. Is this Coasterbuzz fan favorite Tyler in the video describing what the tornado sounded like?

Can't be the same Tyler because he's not skipping.
The dude in the video is Tyler Brose. The banned coaster buzzer was Tyler Boes, I believe.
That's great footage of Phantom for such a stupid non-story that took up way too much time for them to tell. Filler. lol

Oh I caught the spelling, but figured the same station that made an error in calling this news might also make a spelling error. And wouldn't our favorite CB'er be the first in line to give an interview about his terrifying experience?
