Balder Intamin trains: ugly?

Assunimng they are the same trains as are used on Colossos, which i'm pretty sure they are, riders are sat equally as open as the Intamin giga trains. As some people above have said, theie wooden coaster trains are in fact very similar to the steel hyper cars.

I agree that they are not the best looking trains though, but that picture makes them look more ugly than they really are.

Is it just me or is that turn banked at about 90 degrees? It's the turn with the camelbacks at the entrance and exit. I think it might be right after the first drop.

That could be one step closer to an overbanked turn on a woodie. Wow, that would be weird.

I like the trains. People have said it above, but I'll second that they're just Intamin's wooden take on hyper/giga trains. They're incredibly open and the restraints are T-shaped! That's cool.

All Ic an say about the trains is that they may look ugly now. If they put some nice paint on it will make them look better. Man I wish I could go out and ride Balder, it looks so fun to ride.

It does look like a great ride. I'm not bothered all that much by the trains. They do look like bathtubs but eh, so what. Americans more than any other culture I've seen, want everything to be immediately pleasing to the senses, without any room for something different, if maybe odd at first. The term "first impressions" was made for Americans.

I think they are cool as heck.... :) They have that Fridigaire look to 'em..;) I love it. I just hope they track well.... oh, and I would love to actually get to ride the thing.

Hey, I am a rock star.... we get arrested from time to time.

Those hidious trains are used on both Colossos (Heide-Park) and Wild Wild West (MovieWorld Madrid). I think they look like crap, but they're pretty comfortable. Very small though..

I definately prefer the stylish Vekoma trains..

Its almost like riding on a couch. ;)

Six Flags Holland occasionally gives riders a wet surprise in their Vekoma woodie Robin Hood. The "couches" tend to suck in loads of water when they're damaged. Try to sit on that and keep your ass dry..

When maintained properly, the trains don't just look marvelous, they are extremely comfortable and fast as well.

The Vekoma-trains have the most annoying lapbars ever. They don't stay where you want them and thus they smash your stomach during the whole ride. Not pleasant.

The Intamin-trains however have hydraulic lapbars, thus they stay where you want them within the inch.
The seats are the same as the mega coasters, very comfortable.

I think Balder will get some more details (stickers maybe) on the trains to finish them. You've only seen 2 pull-trough cars.

As mentioned, Wild Wild West at WBMW Madrid uses these - just shows how a traditional colour scheme can make them look so much better.

They're still ugly with a traditional colour scheme..

Atleast those are cut out. I like those better than the refrigerator boxes (my joke thank you ;)) but hey if it's comfortable and has hydraulic restraints alright. Me thinks Beast should have Hydraulic lap bars.

I have never had a problem with The Beast.

And the hideousness of those trains will haunt my dreams forever.

I didn't know Balder had 'plug and play' track aswell. Must be one hell of a smooth coaster.

It also makes it possible for designers to make more twisted lay-outs. Roar-like turns are a piece of cake for this type of track.

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.

Balder is a Plug "N" Play woodie.
Those are hideous trains. The ride looks rather good even though I didn't observe those pictures well. the wheel assembly looks similar to the Arrow conventional attachment. I think that is common on Wooden Coasters though, am I correct? Where is Balder located, and is it the 2nd or 3rd plug 'n play
