Bad weather at a Theme Park

What is the worst weather anyone has experienced at a theme park?

I had 2 occasions at SFGAM. Both of the instances dealt with Tornados. I was working at the park while they were happening but the guests really had no where to go. It was wild.

In 1999 I went to SFDL in late oct it was 25 degree's with sleet hitting your face like little bits of metal, i looked like i was a teenager again with acne, that's how my face looked afterwards.

In 1999, I went to Six Flags Over Texas. And it was clear as it could be. Then all the sudden, a bad storm came up, I thought it might be a tornado coming. The lightning was scary as crap, especially when it hit near the Texas Giant. Six Flags was grateful to issue Rain checks to all the guest that day though, and we went back the next day, rain free!:).
I was at CP back in June '00 when a really severe thunderstorm blasted the park. It was raining sideways and flooding everything. Me and my two friends huddled in one of the craft shops on the Frontier Trail until the storm blew past. Unfortunately, there were a total of 3 such storms that day so we ended up missing a couple of coasters, but we played a lot of skeeball and video games! LOL

I was at SFO during Fright Fest. It was so cold and rainy, the only rides operating were Villain, Superman, and Double Loop.

I arrived at 1:00 and the park closed around 3.
Does all of 2000 count? Svery single trip we did we got rain or down pours. I think our worst in 2000 was probably at SFO. The park wasn't very crowed and we were soaked by the time we got to the enterance. I loved riding the Villian in the rain even though it stung.

Another natsy time at a park was at Knoebels about 10 years ago. We ended up gettin a nasty eletrical storm that knocked power out at the park. This was when they had their "old" ferris wheel people were stuck on that for a few minutes until they got every one down. On the way out we even noticed a train stuck on the lift of the Phoenix. Luckily we were at the arcade when it hit. My buddy was mad because he lost a quarter.

I went to SFMM around this time last year with my best friend...MAN the weather was really bad,the wind and rain was crazy,i was stupid enough to ride the electric powered bumper cars to stay out of the rain, untill the ride op. told everyone that we could get electricuted and they had to shut the ride down..the only cool thing about that day was that the longest we had to wait in line was like 10min,and that was for goliath!(very bad idea to ride in the rain!)..unfortunatly they had to shut the park down around 4pm..oh well!

I have ridden many coasters in a cold rain and nearly gave myself frostbite on my hands in early october.

Peace, Love, and Rollercoasters.........we need more of all three.
Well, the worst weather I've experienced was at Disneyland in June of 1999. It was a rather cold and rainy week for a June in Anaheim, and everyone was buying those little yellow Mickey Mouse parkas to keep dry! Disney must've made a fortune that week since those parkas ran about $12 each, and there were LOTS-o-peeps walking around in them. It was fun though, since most of the rides at Disneyland are inside. Peace. :)

Mine was during my time as a ride op at Martin's Fantasy Island. It was a typical day..suddenly these dark clouds rolled in arround 4pm, it got so dark that we turned on the ride lights! As i dispatched (what was to be the last for a while) A car on the wildcat, this wind came in and blew dirt in my eyes, i couldn't see! Once everybody was off the ride we ran to the restaurant in the middle of the midway..at this point it is thundering and lightning. The tents coving the patio at the restaurant started blowing over, we had to put our weight into the support poles to keep em standing. When it was over..trees all over the park were down..and a trailer at the next door kao was blown over...about an hour later all the rides were back up and running, and my shoes were soaked :)

Welcome Back Raptor Riders how was your ride?
one time i was working outside at Martin's Fantasy Island and it was misting outside. It wasn't heavy enough to consider rain... but anyways... Every time I visit Canada's Wonderland, it seems to rain. One time I stayed inside the arcade that used to be Smurf Cave for the whole time. A couple years ago, it was raining and I got soaked so I just decided to go with it and went on White Water Canyon and Timberwolf Falls. Also, one time at SFDL we were in the station of S:ROS and it started thundering and lightning so they shut down the ride. We waited there for about an hour, but when they finally started the ride back up, we were on the first train that had been in the station the whole time (DRY!!!) and on the first seat. SROS is very fast when it's wet!!! On the same day, we got stuck in the Mind Eraser station, and some random person started a sing along. There was a nice puddle of water in the seats when we got to ride. :( but :) because SLC's are fun in the rain!
I wasn't there, but all I have to say is the waterspouts at Cedar Point!
This year I went to Great America for FrightFest. We went on the last day of operation and the temperature was about 35° the whole day. On Raging Bull, I put my hands up and I couldn't feel them when the ride was over. Wow that day was cold. Very fun though:)

Jack, who can't wait for Opening Day 2001...
I was at IOA when it hailed. I was in line for Popeye and there was a lot of lightning and my friend got hit in the head with hail. We found out later Spiderman and Dr. Dooms fearfall had taken direct hits. Luckily we rode those rides earlier.
I went on a rainy weekend to BGW. misty rain all the time, occasionally it stopped. basically i didnt see the sun for 3 days...anyway, i go to the park, its grey and dreary out, the park was great, it was kinda cold and damp. As i was leaving the park, THE SUN CAME OUT. what a pisser, but it was great!
MY worst weather was August 2, 2000 at CP. THe rain was horrible that evening. Lightning, torrential rains and it was somewhat cold also. I ended up wasting nearly the entire evening. I did get to ride the super himalaya as much as I wanted though. THey didn't even make me get off.
It was about the last operating day of SFGAm and it was pouring hail and there was no line for RB and we went on it about 15 times and it really hurt my face! It felt like my face was on fire!!! It was worth it though!

*If things seem under control, you're just not going fast enough*

The 1 time I had really bad weather was on a school choir trip at Busch G. Williamsburg. It rained, literally no exaggeration, the entire time we were at the park from like 12 to 10 but i (and my friends) had so much fun. it was fun riding all the coasters in the rain and it seemed like the rain made it more fun. plus all the rain eventually drove the crouds away so we rode loch ness monster like 5 times in a row we just ran back to the begining of the line and got right on. not to mention i rode apollo's chariet for the 1st time. it was one of the best time at a park for me at least
