Bad place for a nest!

I was at Cedar Point Monday and noticed that there are two sea gulls with nests on Mantis's track. Every time the train goes by, they take off about ten feet above the track and then land again after the train passes. I thought that it was kinda funny, but also feel bad for the birds.

Let's not forget the nest on Raptor's heilix. It looks like crap (literally) and needs to be removed.

Hd you ever seen the story that Jeff posted at Guide To the Point a few years back about Maggy the Sea Gull. Aperntly This Sea Gull nested right inside the first tunnel on Magnum XL-200. Aperently those Sea Gulls don't make wise decisions about their nesting sites. I do belive it is illegal to remove those nest becasue those Sea Gulls are under protection becasue they are migatory birds.

I was in the front row of Mantis once when a gull got smacked by the zero car. I didn't see the results but I imagine it died. It was a pretty hard impact.

Wouldn't be nice if one hit you in the face either!

I remember a ride op on Adventure Express at PKI being s**t on by a bird nesting in the station. It was so funny.

I never saw that sawblade. I think that the gulls have laid their eggs already because they take off just before the train gets to them and then land and sit back down just after the train goes by. They probably built their nests well before the rides begin testing in the spring and may have laid their eggs before the park opened. At least the nests are not in the gauge of the track.

There are birds that nest in holes in the track under MF's brake run...even when it's running. I remember them from 2000, don't know if they're still there....

I think that it adds to the Cedar Point experience when birds live in the rollercoasters. "Seagull Sam" lives under the track for the CP Mine Ride. ;)
