Bad news from SRM

SRM was ended early this year when a rider was thrown from the Raven. It is unclear who the rider was of how they are doing, but the injeries appear to be serious. It happened at about 8:00 CT.

We were informed of this at dinner and told, rightfully, that the event would be closed. It appears the ridder may have unbuckled their seatbelt on ride. We were tokd there were many witnesses.

Yes, this is very sad. Lets all pray the person is okay and will make a full recovery. Thats the most important thing right now.

Wow.

I have to wonder how else he/she could have been ejected without tampering with the restraint.

The walk to the front gate from dinner was sureal. Hundreds of enthuisiasts, walking in near silence and disbelief; just whispers among them.

Let's hope this doesn't change this event forever.

I had the same reaction as Kevin (wow). That's really sad.

Am I really that shy?

It's always a sad day when something like this happens. Let's just pray for the person and their family, and hope that God is with them.

Wow.. That is sad. Was it an enthusait who was ejected?
Wow.

All year I'd been planning to go to SRM, but I changed plans a little while ago. The strange thing is I had a dream last night of riding Raven and I nearly got thrown out- no joke.

May all our prayers and thoughts be with him/her and their family... this is sad- let's hope for a full recovery.

Believe it or not: God loves you and can save you!
Do you believe?

We were told (by Pat Koch) it was an enthusiast.

We were also asked to please not gossip about it or talk to the media, so, beyond that, I'm not going to speculate any more.

Very sad.

The media apparently hasn't picked up on this yet. The local news has said nothing that we've heard.

Well, unfortunately it was bound to happen with all those one-click rides those guys give.

Definitely a sad day.

I'm sorry such a thing had to happen to the nice folks at Holiday World. Six Flags has the money and market to survive something like this. I hope Holiday World does, as well.

I hope the injured recover.

I agree with all of you. All we need to do is pray for the person, and all who will be affected by this horrible accident.
Wow

Do you bleed Blue?

That's very sad. It's always sad when someone gets hurt on a roller coaster.

I'll keep him and his family in my prayers.

Wow. This is even worse than what I thought. Not just one person, but one injured and one dead. I just can't belive that something would happen like this at a park like Holiday World. I will keep both people and their families in my prayers.

It is not only sad for the families of those involved, but also for Holiday World and the entire amusement industry. The good people at Holiday World were simply putting together an event for enthusiasts to enjoy, and certainly not looking to jeopardize anyone's safety. I hope that the true cause of this incident is determined and that appropriate measures are then taken, rather than a knee-jerk reaction without knowing all the facts.
If the rider was not at fault, then I guess we've seen the end of one-click ride events. If the rider was at fault, there is nothing that anyone could have done to prevent this, and let's hope that parks are not afraid in the future to hold similar events.

Bottomline is, let's get the facts before we react.
