Later on I ran into a friend of mine that works there and asked him about it. He told me that the ride ops working the Flyers had been complaining about how they were running and they thought they were dangerous.
You can still snap the cables but it takes a little more work than before. It's also not as exterme snapping as earlier in the year. I hope for PPP they speed them up for the evening.

Knoebels visits in 2002. 5
Wow, thats a real bummer. Knoebel's Flyer's were the best I had ever been on.
I am just hoping and praying they will get them back up to speed.

Can we change the name of Top Gun to your mom so no one wants to ride your mom?

Don't feel bad guys, PKI's (the other set that rule the sky) have a short cycle this year, which only give ya a couple revolutions at full speed. Its just a timer adjustment, but still a pain in the fin!
To the best of my knowledge, the cycle that currently is in operation at PKI is the same one as last year. I got a few rides in last year that I thought were really short, but were clocked the same time.

84 coasters in Track Record!! Hypersonic XLC # 100 in July. Waiting for the 305 foot drop tower in 2003. Thank you PKD.
Too bad guys :( We have three snappable sets of Flyers here in Cincinati! :)
PKI: 10 tub full size model that is very snappable and very easy to figure out but not quite as good as some I've ridden.
Lesourdsville Lake, There is a trick to it but these quite possibly are the best flyers I have ridden. It takes some knowlege of how the ride works and how to create slack but when you get it right, I get higher than PKI. It's about as fast as Knoebels used to be and you snap just as hard, If not harder but you don't quite make as much noise cause the tubs are fiberglass. Also a 10 tub model with about a 4-5 minute cycle :) My new #1 flyers :)
Strickers Grove, Two days per year you can ride these. July fourth and the second sunday in Aug. We snapped em. Not big snaps most of the time but I did see a couple people snap hard once or twice. I was having fun trimming the tree and looking down on that great PTC JR style Teady bear coaster :) This is a 8 tub modle and runs just like HW's did last year when you could snap em.
Chuck, Flyer Fanatic, Nungester, Who must have take 80 flyer rides between PKI, Strickers and Lesourdsville on July 4th-5th :)

Next time I go to Knoebels I'm gonna do some investigating to find out the answer to the slowing. My one buddy also told me that the ride ops were complaing about the brakes as well as the snapping. Maybe they put new brakes on and they are dragging a bit.
I rode PKD's last year and I'd have to say Knoebels are running about the same speed, maybe just a tiny bit faster.
