bad crowds at SFA?

I was going to go to Six Flags America but I heard that its in a BAD area and there are bad crowds, and lots of fights so now im hesident to go.
I would still go. Just avoid the negative people and you should be fine, even though I haven't been to Six Flags America.

The park itself is in a very nice part of Largo, Maryland. Next to exclusive housing developments and such, and not far from a strip of restaurants, malls, etc.

I've made many visits to the park and I like it very much. I've never had a problem there, although,
make no mistake about it, the crowds are tough.

No worse than the Camden/Brooklyn/Bronx/Trenton
scum that SFGAd gets, or the Springfield animals
that SNFE gets. SFNE's crowd, on the majority of my visits, has always had the ''rowdiest crowd.''

I've never witnessed a fight at any park I've been to,
although I'm convinced that someday there will be a riot on the way to MF if Cedar Point does not do away with that irresponsible ''running of the bulls''
thing. Woops, venturing off topic...the end!
I went there as a part of my Virginia Coaster trip this spring and didn't notice the crowd being "tough" and it certainly isn't in a "bad" area. I guess it all depends on where you come from though.

Many times the reports you read about scary crowds are from people who are somehow intimidated by being in the company of urban type people, who "act" and dress like their favorite music stars "gangsta rappers"

Generally, you can tell who is and who isn't a true "Gangsta" and so can Security!

I've seen Security follow potential trouble makers of ALL sizes shapes and colors.

just remember that most of the clothes are for show, not to provoke, or intimidate :)

Well, I was just there on Friday the 6th and it is NOTHING like the TR that I have read about the park. There were maybe like 3 individuals I saw there but there were mostly *wannabes* that it. I would recommend going there. Like RobCoasting said, its a really nice park with some awesome rides..TR comin soon.

I've been critical of Six Flags America, and Six Flags in general, in my trip reports, but one thing I HAVEN'T had many problems with at SFA is the "roughness" of the crowd.

Keeping your eyes open and avoiding trouble is a good guideline at ANY park, though, especially one you've never been to before.

The park is definitely, definitely, not in a bad area. As you drive down Central Ave. you'll see high rise condo's, expensive housing, and several nice strip malls. Right across from Six Flags is a retirement community and caddy corner is a huge (sounds redundant until you see it) megachurch. There are some rough types there, but most of the people are cool. I've only seen one fight while in line, and that was in 99'. I've since visited the park multiple times each season and it's been fine.

I have seen a few fights at SFgadv but the funny thing is,they are all fights between girls!!I don't think anyone has anything to worry about at any park so long as you keep your eyes on the rides and the people your with. Some girls are very touchy if you even look at them but, they are harmless little quarrels for the most part and,i have seen park security act pretty quickly in these situations.See my TR humorous day at SFgadv. The french fry flinging fight i saw was pretty comical :)Funny you all mention the two parks i am going to this month(SFA,SFNE).I am not in the least bit worried about what the crowd behaviors are like.As long as i act my age and mind my own business i won't have anything to worry about.

I didn't notice any bad element there on my visit last June, and that was with a fairly large inner-city school group there.

I just wish they would have been running everything that day.

When I went in early April, there were some rough looking people at the gate, but I experienced no problem whatsoever with them. I forgot all about that "megachurch" next to SFA, I meant to get a picture of it last time but didn't, guess I'll do it tommorrow.

I actually got to go inside the megachurch two weeks ago for work, and my jaw dropped. You think it looks big from the outside...Consider that it took roughly 2 years to build and in that time SFA built Joker's Jinx, Two Face, Superman Ride of Steel, plus the whole Six Flags conversion.
