Awesome K'NEX custom-built coaster

www.nasser.net/coasters/graphics/serpent_danimation.jpg The builder used 4 kits, he got 2 for free. Read about it & more on his site; www.nasser.net/coasters/ - not up to date, soon.
That ride looks pretty sweet!

Funny you bring this up. I just got mine yesterday. It took about 5.5 hours to build, though I spent a great deal of time just admiring the trains. They're totally Intamin hyper trains, only the wheels don't yaw on each axle. The trailering is the same though, and the little chain dog is pretty cool. I wonder when they'll realize they could make these things inverted if they spring-load the chain dog?

It's funny, I was just thinking, "What could I do with more than one set?" The main model is cool, but it ends with a lot of energy left. I've dropped the train from half-way down the lift and it still completes the ride no problem. A helix at the end would have been very cool.

The only thing I don't like is the fact that you have to cut the track. I suppose it wouldn't be a big deal if you could buy, say, a hundred feet of it and not have to worry about it. They should really sell packs of track rail, flexi-rods and track ties in a package, as well as just simple structural pieces. Then you could build huge things.

I was thinking the same thing. I wanted to build a different model of it, and needed about 30 more feet of track length. I wrote the company and they said since it is so new they do not yet offer the track extensions, but they do offer that on the old kit.

Life is a roller coaster...enjoy the ride!
Bruce, is this what you're talking about? This one is not a working model though; www.angelfire.com/in2/kfconcepts/psychout.html

BTW, how did you come up with that stylish 'B' in your name? Would you know how to make V^2 look right - V squared?
Question... With the current set, assuming I only have one, can I build something other than what is in the picture?

For sure. There is a smaller alternative model on the back of the box or you can build whatever you want within the number of pieces in the kit.
If you cut the track, can you combine peices of cut track, if you want to say, redesign it later on... Or is it once a peice is cut, that is as long as it will ever be.

Tell me if you think this would work with one kit... Curve drop into (small)zero G camelback, down and into a dive loop which brings you right back to the station.

Tiapan-

If you're running any Windows version 95 or above, then go to your Start bar, Programs, Acessories, System Tools, and then to Character Map. There are all of the goodies you could ever want to know.

Hope that helps!

Thanks! Yup, that helped as you can see - ß² :).

FCR, you can join pieces of rails on the cross ties or even glue them. However continuous rails are best for maximum performance. Your layout sounds good, it should work.

Jeff, don't you mean dropping the train from halfway down the drop not lift? Yeah, I noticed how the lift is more than double the height of the loop. I assume this is for the not-so-good builders who introduce a lot of friction into their models. I'm sure K'NEX will come out with track packs, they bloody better! :) An Inverted design would require a C-shaped channel to carry the chain in the inverted posistion.
Does the chain lift have to be a certain height because of the chain??
