Awesome Cedar Point Trip !!!!!

Associated parks:
None

I am not normally the person to ride the biggest and baddest roller coasters. I don’t have the stomach for inversions, and normally top out at 205ft. So you will notice some big name rides not listed.

7/30-8/2

Magnum-Used to be my favorite coaster. The best Magnum ride I got was on Thursday the first night at the park. It was my mom’s and sister’s first time ever on the coaster and my mom screamed louder than I have ever heard her the whole way. My mom never rode it again but my sister did again on Saturday. Friday night I got two great night rides in and on Saturday morning breakfast included a Kripsy Kreme and the first two magnum rides of the day.

Overall: 10-12 rides, including 3 night rides, 2 morning rides, a freeway (which saved me about an hour) and a great onride photo.

Gemini-This is one of the most underrated coasters. I didn’t have a single bad ride on it. On Saturday both sides opened with the park which made the front a walkon for about a half hour. On Thursday and Friday the 2nd side opened at around 11:00. The air in the front is great, numerous times I came off my seat high enough to be dropped down onto the seat divider.

Overall: 18-20 rides, including 4 at night, 10-12 in front, 4 rides without trims.

Mine Ride-Rode it only once, it has a good layout and I like the end helix. The worst part is the restraints.

Iron Dragon-You have to ride in the front to have a good ride. The first drop actually gave me butterflies, something I haven’t had in a long while. The fly-by dragster’s station was cool and gave some good visuals. Good coaster

Overall: 3 rides, 1 in front, 3 Dragster fly-bys

Disaster Transport-Waited around 15-20 minutes for the only ride I got on it. The AC was welcome relief from 83 degrees outside. The themeing isn’t great but was more entertaining than staring at cold steel walls. I don’t hate the coaster like everyone else, it rounds out Cedar Point’s roller coaster collection nicely.

Mean Streak-I was hesitant to ride, because I have bad knees and everyone says it is the roughest coaster ever. I said heck with it and got my first ever ride, it wasn’t too bad at all. The worst part was droping out of the MCBR, that is the only time I was really rattled around. The neutered drop wasn’t very fun but the coaster is long and is thrilling.

Overall: 1 ride, planned a second but skipped it for more Gemini.

White Water Landing-A good traditional water ride. If you have to wait any longer than 15min I would skip it though. Oh and if you don’t want to get wet don’t sit in the back and remember to duck at the bottom of the drop, I forgot.

Now until this year I had only ridden the magnum 3 times, and that was because I didn’t have the stomach for more. After 10 rides the over the three days I finally dragged myself onto the Millennium Force.

It was about 10:40pm when we got into line on Saturday the last day we were in the park. The sign at the entrace put our wait at an hour and a half, which turned out to be very accurate. There were four of us in line, me, my dad, aunt and cousin. My cousin had ridden MF earlier this season but only got on once. I didn’t really start to get nervous until we got to the Freeway Merge point, which was at about 11:45. I watched train after train scream past us, my cousin began to say "I have already ridden this, why am I doing it again", which made us laugh but not any less nervous.

Once we got to the station we were told to pick an open lane, I grabbed a nice and safe spot in the middle of the train, in a front car. I had never been on any moder intamin coaster and was new to the restraints and had some difficulty, the op checking belts quickly came over and helped me. Before I could thank him we were pulled out the station and up the lift. I wasn’t prepared for how quick the lift was, we just kept going higher and higher, it was so quiet because no other coasters were still running. Then the lift jerked and we sped up and were dumped over the lift. I tried to follow the track with my eyes like you can do on the magnum but all I could see was this tiny toothpick size piece of blue surrounded by darkness waiting for us at the bottom. The first overbank was a blur but the tunnel was loud and the Magnum hill threw me off the seat. The next two turns flew by like the first. The hill into the tunnel again threw me off the seat and the tunnel exploded with light from the cameras. The next pop of air cam on the mini hill, the final overbank is the only one I remember. As we hit the brakes I asked if the line was still open, of course it wasn’t though.

The reason why the Magnum is no longer my favorite roller coaster is because the Millenium Force blows it away. MF is and incredible ride! It’s glass smooth, has great elements (at least the ones I remember), and has an awesome first drop, absolutly incredible!!

Crew wise I had some dissapointment, the Gemini crew was slow and just dead. They nearly stacked up the trains eventhough they were only running 2 trains. The exception was a blonde girl who interacted with the riders, I didn’t catch her name. Last year the Magnum crew seemed to be having more fun than the riders. This year they were lifless and constantly stacked the trains. They were the biggest dissapointment for me.

On the opposite side of the spectrum the WT and MF crews were awesome they were quick helpful and wanted to help. Both rides had great ride ops that did their best to help me into the restraints, unsuccessfully on WT, but the I greatly appreciated the extra help the ops gave.

Overall I, and my family, had a fabulous time, and can’t wait till next year!!

Now next year, you have to drag yourself onto TTD! (If it's open that is) I still like MF better, but TTD is absolutely incredible.

Magnums crew isn't too bad. Depends who has the mic. Raptor's crew seems to be about the best. Mantis' crew always seems upset because no one listens to the directions and it takes forever to load the trains. Two trains running and always stacking. It was made to run three trains.

Maybe the problem was all I heard from the crew was the occasional "Clear". The recording was playing all day and night.

you really should give Raptor a try...at least once. I know you said you aren't into inversions, but I think raptor might change your mind.

I was actually hoping to get on Raptor but since I didn't fit in the restraints of WT I didn't want to wait in another line and not ride. Especially since they have to dispatch the trains so fast now.

The Mantis Ops are bad. I found them to be somewhat rude, actually. Now I know I wouldnt want to be an Op on Mantis, but give us a break. Do the seat things really have to be so high up to the point where they hurt my manhood? I honestly dont think so.

I encountered my first trip to Cedar Point this year, I had been planning this for 3 years and after one of my old roomies went last year and told me about it, I had to go. Although TTD was down, I did ride all the other coasters and man what a blast, WT and MF were the best, where as Cedar Creek Mine Ride hurt my legs as I was a little too tall to ride this. You definitely have to ride Raptor as that is a cool ride, Mantis was sweet except for the constant headbanging between the bars.
Fury, you always could of tried the test seat right in front of the ride before getting in the line too see if you fit or not.

Yea Fury, WT seats are smaller than Raptor's. If you were close to fitting into WT seats, I am sure that you would have been able to fit into Raptor's.

Jason, if you are uncomfortable on Mantis, all you have to do is ask a ride op and they will unlock you and you can adjust the restraint.

I regret to inform you that Cedar Point's newest roller coaster, Top Thrill Dragster will not be operational today, or tomorrow or probably any day that you decide to visit our park. Please accept our apologies.

Yeah you should really atleast give TTD a shot if you went on MF. Id say grab that same friend and tell him to drag you on it, because all the friends ive forced to ride stuff have ended up thanking me all day!

Im one to say TTD is better than MF though, so I may sound biased....both are great rides, and theres no doubt about that!

The last night we were there, the clouds opened up around 6. Around 7 I think there was no rain coming down at all, they had already put all the trains for TTD on the transfer tracks when we walked around. TTD never opened or the rest of the night, not even any test runs. That is probably why we had such a long wait on MF.

I've only been to CP once, but I didn't notice test seats there like I have seen at some other parks...I may have overlooked them because I wasn't looking for them. Hershey has them and are real handy to see if you will fit before you get in line. Also at Hershey I believe Great Bear has one row with a couple seats that are a little larger..does CP offer the same on Raptor and WT?

------------------
"How was your ride?"

CP has the test seats for the big ridesthat have the longest lines, except for Mantis. The seats are at the start of the queue for MF, WT and TTD. All seating is the same throughout the trains. B & M's seats seem to be larger than the Intamin seats. Last year, I had no problem riding any ride except for WT. I just could not get the safety strap fastened. I lost a little weight this year and just fit in the WT seats now.
