Aug trip to Cedar Point

I convinced my dad to bring me and my brother with him to cedar point. This is a first time trip and I want to know what not to miss out on, (all the coasters I plan to ride) I was wondering if anyone here could help me. What is your "plan" of attack when entering Cedar Point? I am staying at Hotel Breakers so I get half and hour early admission. What are the best seats on the coasters? Also we are going to take Amtrak from Penn Station (NY) to sanduskey station and I was wondering if it is a good ride and what mode of transportation you use to get to the hotel. Thanks a lot.

P.S. Sorry about the spelling. I know I made errors

my first time i went i missed out huge.
if you dont care about the count just hit the good stuff(mf,wt,raptor, mantis, magnum, gemeni, blue streak and *gulp* mean streak. and power tower
i would say more stuff but tv show is starting

MF in the front is a must for visuals. The back is great for getting sucked down the first drop. When you go in early I would get 2 rides on MF then ride Magnum Mantis Raptor and Wicked Twister. I would ride WT in the back. POwer Tower is pretty good. For my plan last eayr when WT wasn't there I did MF and Mantis the first day and some smaller coasters. Then the next day I did Magnum and Raptor and teh rest of the coasters.

Here's an idea: Don't plan it out. Just take the day and make the absolute most of it you can. So what if you miss this or that. Make it up the next day or next visit. So much time is wasted on making plans for vacations and getaways that it seems that everything just has to be "planned" out or it goes wrong. (when in fact, if you just take the day as it comes along, you seemingly get way more out of it {I believe carpe diem is the phrase best used here??})

Exactly Joey. When I went for the first time this past May, I basically just "winged it" so to speak. I just walked and when I came upon a coaster, I rode it.

It worked well because I got on every coaster in the park (minus Jr. Gemini).

Ric Flair was hitting on the female host, he told her - "Space Mountain may be the oldest ride in the park, but it has the longest line." WOOOOO!

Visit [url="http://www.coasterbuzz.com/forums/www.cedarpoint.com" target="_blank">and you can check out all of their rides and download a map. That way, you will have an idea of where things are and will spend less time looking for them.

I think its a good idea to have an idea about what you are going to do when you get to the park, eg. hit the back first and move forward. But if you make a plan that goes from ride to ride, its going to get messed up somehow. Just go and have fun!

About your Amtrack question, I'm not positive, but I think the amtrack station is about 5 miles away from the park, so walking is almost out of the question. I am pretty sure that Cedar Point doesn't run a shuttle or anything like that, so you're probably best off just calling a cab.

I visited last August, and had a ton of fun. My day certainly wasn't planned out, but it still worked fine, as I got to ride all coasters except for Woodstock's Express and Jr. Gemini. It was a very tight fit, since I rode all coasters, but thats all I did there (no flat rides or even Power Tower).

Am I the only one in this great big world who likes the Mean Streak?
I think so James. Anyways, I went last year on a friday on August and was able to do everything I wanted to. I went on Millennium Force at around 4:00 and waited about an hour and a half for it. Let me tell ya though, whatever wait it has, it's definantly worth it. I also remember how Raptor was almost a walk-on at about 7:00. Also, at about 6:00, the line for Magnum was under 20 minutes. I didn't ride Mantis and I think all the rest of the rides that day were under 20 minutes long. If your going on a friday, I hope this helps. If not, well ponder and then make up your own decision.

If you like Wicked Twister in the back, does that mean you like to get screwed in the rear?

dont listen to joey!
i did that the first time i went and i missed out on lots of stuff. write down all the stuff you want to hit before you go. then do all the stuff you wrote down before you do anything else.
i missed out of front rows on mantis, magnum. i missed ejector seat magnum, i missed very back row mantis.i only rode like 5 coasters once. i didnt hit either power tower. i got a full agenda for my visit this year and i aint leaving till i hit everything on it

Thanks. Also, I am staying at hotel breakers. Is it wise to go through the entrance by Wicked Twister and hit that first or go strait to MF. The other part of my question is what are the best seats. Front in MF and 1st car 3rd seat on Maggie. What are the other great seats. I have two days so on the first day I want to hit everything and on the second just be "spontanious". Thanks

I just got back from CP and Breakers was great. I like the back the best on MF. Make sure you get to the entrance by WT at about 8:30 if not earlier. The running of the resort guests is something you should see on tv in slo motion. There were alot of foreign employees standing there laughing at us while we were sprinting. It was funny because there are all these older ladies working at the ticket booth and finally during the national anthem they started singing "and the home of the brave"! and we gave them the ticket and began our run to the best coaster ever. It was a memoriable experience.
The best seats go as following(IMO): Millennium Force, front seat, Raptor, front row, Mantis, front row, Wicked Twister, second to last seat. Those are the big ones. I guess go in the front seat for any of the other rides that weren't mentioned, especially Mean Streak so you don't get your @$$ kicked. Hope this helps.

Wicked Twister in the back seat is a must. Millennium Force in the front is great, but so is the back and the line isn't nearly as long. Raptor gives a great ride in the front, but I'd say the best seat is in the last row on the far right side. Magnum's best seat is easily the ejector seat, car one row 3.

Like said earlier just go to the park and take things as they go and btw no you are not alone I love the Mean Streak it is cool in the fornt but absolutley (albeit painful) in the way back.

Don't listen to anyone but me. This is what you do:

1.Millenium Force

2.Wicked Twister

3.Raptor

4. Mantis

Ride these ones in order first. Millenium Force probably will run before the park even opens for the Breaker Guests. Get that one out of the way first, then go ride WT. WT didn't start until 10 on Thursday when I went, so I would get down there right before that, because it is a new ride and usually pretty long due to lower ride capacity. After that, go to Raptor before that fills up, and then go to Mantis, because that one can fill up quickly too. After Mantis, go right down toward Magnum and get a couple of short line rides before anyone gets down there. Also, try to get your hand stamped for a freeway ride for MF or WT for later in the day. Make sure you get the bigger rides ridden first to get them out of the way. I did exactly this on Thursday (I wasn't even a hotel patron) and got a ride on every coaster at least once. Six rides on Magnum, 3 on MF, about five on Gemini, 2 on MS, and several rides on non-coaster rides. Have a fun time.

Raptor will be filled up right after the park opens, so unless you run to that first you don't really have much of a chance of beating the crowds. Mantis will have a long line pretty much all day except for right before the park closes when that line usually empties out. If you are really that worried about lines then ride Raptor in the late afternoon and Mantis at night. Otherwise, just go and have fun.

um, no, I went there two days ago, and got over to Raptor about 10:15, right after WT, and it was a ten minute wait, tops. Raptor does fill up quickly, but not RIGHT away. CP's usually able to keep the lines short for the first fifteen or twenty minutes before too many people start filling into the queue. So go no farther than listening to ME regarding best riding times at the point.
